Evening shenanigans and close calls... #illustration #feldgeister #korndämonen

Mother Jones' editor-in-chief @clarajeffery.bsky.social evokes history to contextualize why USAID was first on the chopping block and the significance of widespread protests today. "If you think mass protests can’t combat evil, remember what we did in the 1980s." This is my favorite bit:

🤬🤬 Some jerk ran over this Ghost Rivers sign at @wymanparkdell ... yes, a car drove *through* the park and destroyed the sign! Help replace it by donating to Friends of Wyman Park Dell’s GoFundMe. gofund.me/939fbf4f

Agatha Award nominations are out: @fs2024.bsky.social On the Santa Fe Trail we meet the Kaw of the First Nation Peoples. Schoonmaker had her book read and vetted by members of the Kaw Nation. It was important in being truthful to history. #agathaaward #goodreads #historicalfiction #sidjohnsonbook2

We have reached new levels of madness when an unelected, non senate-confirmed private citizen is overseeing an effort to overhaul or possibly end a congresionally mandated arm of our government. This is real trouble for the separation of powers, and with it, our basic democratic institutions.

Hey friends. I'm still selling original art and prints on my kofi shop. It's been a very rough year/months for work and your support means a lot. If interested you can dm directly or head over to my Kofi shop in bio. Thank you a always 🫶🏻

One last #peoplesmarchdc illustration. Finishing this last moment means an end to the mini-project with which I've (barely) coped with the last week and a half. #illustration #dcpeoplesmarch #2025peoplesmarch #editorial

Over on the other site Elon Musk said that DOGE stopped $50M of condoms from being delivered to Gaza which Trump the repeated several times but it turns out that was the number for all contraceptive support from USAID everywhere on Earth, of which none went to Palestinians.

I should have known from the handle “Data Republican” that they’d be way wrong.

More moments from January 18's DC #PeoplesMarch *All faces in these illustrations have been changed from their original sketches if I sketched facial features at all, for anonymity.* #illustration #dcpeoplesmarch #2025peoplesmarch #editorial

Another two moments from last Saturday. I might make bringing a sketchbook/notebook to protests a regular thing for myself going forward, especially considering they’re about to become even more necessary than they were just months ago... #illustration #peoplesmarch #peoplesmarchdc

A warning in the mist. In the process of deciding that I really wanted to draw mountains, I ended up… mostly covering them up in this piece. Alas.

Yes, they’re talking about you.

A piece of writing and #editorialillustration I did for #TheYEARSProject this spring on how planting native seeds over fossil fuel pipelines can be used as a not-so-lovely PR tactic by pipeline companies, despite its relative biodiversity benefits. theyearsproject.com/latest/seedi...

Mock cover for Ada Limón’s “Bright Dead Things” Originally started the illustration for this in nothing but pigment inks, but realized I wasn’t going to get anywhere near the intense blue I wanted with them, painted over the hand in gouache and never looked back.

Mock #editorialillustration based on Nova Weetman’s February 2023 opinion piece in the Guardian: "Featuring death and grief in children’s books can equip them with skills to navigate emotional terrain."

Be careful near the creek… ☁️
