Hi, just a reminder that when you use Libro.fm for your audiobooks, you support independent bookshops vs. large corporations that drive them out of business. We also pay taxes. And so do indie bookshops.

This whole thread 🙌🏻

One of my faves, my friend & comrade Monica Trinidad has new art that can be freely downloaded. justseeds.org/graphic/be-l...

On the topic of alt-text and gender, consider this comic by Al Benbow (they/them). www.crucialcomix.com/comic/a-rich...

Fantastic thread. Thanks for your insights, Sarah! ⬇️

I just added more things to this list today: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Polio, HAV, HBV, HPV, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, VZV are largely preventable with vaccines. Covid & flu as well. HPV vaccines can prevent cervical cancer! Willful ignorance is a shameful way to get gravely ill or die. Believe in science. www.aha.org/news/headlin...

Hey #PoetryPeople Let’s start a thread of love poems for this day. I love I Am Offering this Poem by Jimmy Santiago Baca “I love you.”

They want to ban and censor our stories. They want us to disappear from the narrative of this country. Then we need to keep telling our stories. We can not let them erase us! Writers, artists, musicians - this is the most important time to keep creating our art!

Teachers and school librarians—don’t do this. This is such bad practice.

Despicable. So many people in the US are choosing to go the way of Gov. George Wallace in 1963: "Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever!" Truly and utterly despicable.

If anyone needs a lesson tomorrow, I made this real quick on Kendrick’s halftime performance. It’s going to be my Black Fact of the Day, because Black History isn’t just the past, it’s the present as well 🤎✊🏾 gamma.app/docs/Analyzi...

Whazzup?

This #BelovedFebruary slowread is an odd feeling. I look forward to reading each chapter, even when the imagery and storytelling are painful. There is an ache in Morrison's writing that feels prescient to what is happening in our world right now. I'm grateful for this slow read. #BelovedFebruary

I know everything is terrible right now but friends, it is 5:40 p.m. where I live and the sun is still up. The cold and dark will pass.

So bummed I can't read with @heymrsbond.com and @marcusluther.bsky.social and everyone for #BelovedFebruary —I have another reading project that's taking all my time 😕 But in my reading I was brought back to this Elizabeth Acevedo poem from her first chapbook. Do with it as you will 😊

I’m reading @kylelukoff.bsky.social’s new book, and it’s amazing, friends. Do yourself a favor and grab yourself (and/or the young people in your life!) a copy.
