Something I like to do around people who don't understand environmental issues but do like to think about defense spending is point out dependence on foreign oil as a potential risk to national security. long story short, we should use this to tell people about solar, wind, and flywheels.

I'm currently thinking about systems of equations where some variables are obscured or uncertain or there's missing information in some other way. I don't know if there's any theoretical study of anything like this; I haven't checked yet.

I had a discussion about if it's better to use consequentialist vs deontological ethical systems. My take was to consider if you want an ethical system that can reduce questions of morality to questions of fact, or if you want to write long and complicated papers. If the later, choose deontology.

Sometimes I wondered if my mother cared more about our health or if the chores got finished. I never imagined anyone would have the same problem in the other direction.

Does anyone know if there's a Chess Variant where the only variation is the player who goes second wins in the case of a draw? I feel like you need to do some calibrating with this, but the basis strikes me as sound.
