Trump Tyranny Tracker: Day 85 is out! The daily tracker documenting the latest in corruption, power consolidation, civil & human rights abuses, and weaponization of government news. Don't forget to subscribe!

Wanted to repost this since Trump yet again has floated sending US citizens to foreign gulags. Erik Prince has a loophole for that aimed at “illegal” citizens but that can easily be applied to all Americans open.substack.com/pub/trumptyr...

I’ve been focused on the patterns and see a very troubling trend - strong indications that Trump and Musk are building a centralized surveillance state and compiling detailed dossiers on all of us

Trump Tyranny Tracker: Day 86 is out! The daily tracker documenting the latest in corruption, power consolidation, civil & human rights abuses, and weaponization of government news. Make sure to read the NPR whistleblower story... and don't forget to subscribe!

After Russia’s genocidal full-scale invasion, Serbia granted citizenship to 204 Russians, including managers of state-owned companies, Russian intelligence officers, and arms manufacturers, stating it was "in the interests of the republic." Putin’s despicable proxy regime

It’s reprehensible that the Trump regime has betrayed Ukraine and in Russia’s pocket but this is beyond the pale. Said from the beginning Trump’s only goal is to force Ukraine to surrender The Pentagon tried to pressure an ally to stop supplying Ukraine with weapons

Trump says Harvard may lose ability to enroll foreign students Weaponizing government agencies to force compliance to a dictator is exactly what happens in Russia. So now we have IRS, DHS, DOJ, etc involved in attacking Harvard

Trump Tyranny Tracker: Day 87 is out! The daily tracker documenting the latest in corruption, power consolidation, civil & human rights abuses, and weaponization of government news. This is yesterday's tracker! I apologize for getting it out so late, but these take hours to put together.

We speak with Nader Hashemi, a university professor who just visited his student in an ICE detention camp in Texas, where he is detained after being abducted because his wife is Palestinian. soundcloud.com/user-8304426...

We are joined by Edward McCaffery to discuss the latest attempts to destroy both the IRS and Social Security as Trump appoints another unqualified hack to the IRS and Musk unplugs the phones at SS. soundcloud.com/user-8304426...

We speak with Nancy Altman of @socialsecurityworks.org about the chaos being inflicted on Social Security right now as Musk pillages data, closes offices and shuts off phones to make it so dysfunctional Trump will claim it needs to be privatized. soundcloud.com/user-8304426...

We get an expert’s opinion from @craigunger.bsky.social about how credible the latest rumors are that Trump’s amateurish and pliable negotiator with Putin, Steve Witkoff, has ties to Russian money-laundering. soundcloud.com/user-8304426...

SCOOP: sources tell me that the State Dept plans to eliminate its only office to counter foreign disinformation, as soon as today, delivering a win to foreign governments like Russia, Iran, and China—and the office's mostly conservative critics. www.technologyreview.com/2025/04/16/1...

When law firms signed those deals with Trump, people warned: there are no guarantees he won’t come back for more. So here we are. A six-byline story: @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/u...

The best legal minds, I guess, couldn't see this coming...

Less due process than even the internment of Japanese-Americans, one of the deepest sins in the history of U.S. rule of law (or lack thereof). From NYT.

Were there even a hint of even rightwing sincerity about the goal of stopping gangs, we’d know the names of the alleged criminals. U.S. & its little Belarus, El Salvador, refuse to reveal to anyone the names. This is the UN definition of “forced disappearance,” a human rights crime.

We've reached the point where Republicans are flying to El Salvador to visit one of the most vicious prisons in the world to have photo ops so they can prove their loyalty to the President of the United States.

El Salvador says it’s impossible for a U.S. senator to visit or talk to a legal U.S. resident, or arrange to do so, but two Trumpist backbench reps get to pose in prison for pics.

Same day Trump proxy Bukele denies access to legal U.S. resident to a U.S. senator, former Senator Claire McCaskill says Trump losing independent support. And? Is this a government showing any concern about elections?

It's weird when people who imagine they're liberationist leftists come into my timeline because we share anti-fascism but then they want to insist Stalin wasn't a mass murderer. This isn't a football game, where you have to root for this side or that. It's possible to be opposed to all mass murder!

The student paper at the college at which I teach reports a "tsunami of takedown requests" from international students terrified of being targeted for innocuous, legitimate op-eds & opinions.. Many ask in person--leave no trace in writing. Reminds me of my father's account of studying in the USSR.

By "free speech," the Americans mean creating a media environment in your country dominated by American digital fascism preparatory to right-wing regime change. Vance essentially said as much in Munich. Give in now, forget about sovereignty later. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

The ones who support dictatorship abroad support dictatorship here. The ones who lie for Putin lie for Trump.

This is good news. But reporters, please stop just repeating that this task force has anything to do with stopping antisemitism. It is about closing universities and about fomenting antisemitism. www.theguardian.com/education/20...

We are sending people to the Salvadoran gulag for nothing at all. documentedny.com/2025/04/14/i...

@harvard.edu fights back Time for 1. Coordinated statement by all US top universities spelling out red lines of academic freedom. 2. Message of support for all threatened US universities from all world's leading universities. @ox.ac.uk @stanforduniversity.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

I am for every day all of us turning our first focus on fascism (or, if you prefer, authoritarianism) itself. They are attacking and gaining ground on countless fronts. Time spent arguing with those with whom one could be in coalition is time fascism uses to seize more territory.

Ukraine carries to grave the victims of russia’s Palm Sunday “mistake”. Father, mother and son. The family was on their way to church. They put a soccer ball into the son’s casket. The boy loved soccer. #StandWithUkraine #Sumy

Hi All, just sent out this free piece. Trump is actively working with Putin to see Ukrainian civilians killed, some now and more in the future. He is depriving Ukraine of vital anti air defense, which the Ukrainians are willing to buy (helping the US economy) open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

You know the idea is good when you’ve finally gone to bed and you’re typing it on your phone in the dark at 4:30 am. Let’s hope the inspiration is still here in the morning. Er… later in the morning.

Excellent news!

April 16, 2025

The head of our country’s government is in the early stages of consolidating total power. We must of course reject this, but that is not enough. We have to respond by creating a different and better kind of American politics than we have seen before.

Breaking news: The Supreme Court said it will review President Donald Trump’s attempt to ban automatic U.S. citizenship for children born to undocumented immigrants and foreign visitors.

In several cases, DOJ is working overtime to try to prevent any discovery about the Trump administration and DOGE's activities. Seems like they have a lot to hide.

About 1 in 5 Republicans has confidence that Vladimr Putin will do the right thing regarding world affairs. This poll result suggests that millions of people think a dictator whose army murders children and rapes women is really a good guy. Right-wing propaganda is poisoning American minds.

38 of the 43. "38 of 43 experts cut last month from boards that review science and research in NIH laboratories are female, Black or Hispanic. "The scientists typically serve five-year terms and were not given a reason for their dismissal..." www.washingtonpost.com/science/2025...

The White House basically gave Boasberg no choice. And unless they start cooperating very quickly, possibly even if they do, they’re looking at criminal contempt like a freight train. That’s going to raise some tricky issues of penalty, but the underlying finding should be secure. What total jerks.

U.S.-born man from Georgia held for ICE under Florida’s new anti-immigration law georgiarecorder.com/2025/04/17/g...

Very frustrating to see the government's thoughtful development of good tools that genuinely help people disappear -- this was a great way to show people how government can be trusted and an example I spoke of often in my public econ class

I am so fucking tired of hearing from crazy frontman Donald Trump. I want to hear from the people who are really in charge.

RFK Jr. is very loud and very WRONG about Autism. 1. It’s not a disease 2. There are thousands of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder who pay taxes, have jobs, can use the bathroom on their own, and are thriving in life.

“The Congo in Africa. Many, many people come from the Congo. I don’t know what that is, but they came from the Congo.”
