Literally bumped into Austin Pendleton at a restaurant called Vinci around the corner from the Steppenwolf Theatre on my way to the men’s room while he was headed out, managed a “I love your work” and he seemed genuinely grateful for that

So…all evidence suggests Pope Francis installed a sleeper Pope at the Vatican

TRUTH. It’s like when smokers don’t believe that you, personally can tell the difference between a tomato you grow yourself vs. the ones you buy at Whole Foods (goes for any CSA veg, too)

R.I.P. Harris Yulin

Harris Yulin, the ever-present Emmy-nominated actor who appeared in such films as Scarface, Clear and Present Danger and Training Day and on television in Frasier, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Ozark, has died. He was 87.

You’d have a hard time naming more influential artists on the sonic landscape of the last 60 years than Sly Stone and Brian Wilson. Rest in well-deserved peace.

"Brian Wilson, he made all his records with four tracks, but you couldn't make his records if you had a HUNDRED tracks today." "That ear – I mean, Jesus, he’s got to will that to the Smithsonian." — Bob Dylan RIP Brian Wilson

Infuriating

OMG

In Memoriam Sly Stone. I hope that the tragedy of his passing will spark a renewed appreciation of Sly’s music and a belated recognition of his immense legacy. youtu.be/UpUCJWlN0sE?...

Catching up to last week’s episodes of Jeopardy! and so happy for my friend @briantallerico.bsky.social that he’s achieved “Jeopardy! Clue” fame

Excellent and very complicated and sensitive (and short) review

I’m old enough to remember when the value of a AAA membership included a consultation when planning a trip—including a TripTik. So yes, people were willing to “pay” an expert for an optimal route. And just because the costs of Google Maps etc. are hidden doesn’t mean we’re not paying for it now.

Reposting because my wife is reading Dreyer’s English

*taking a long drag on my cigarette* Look kid, you never think you'll see a leopard eating another leopard's face but sometimes, if you're really lucky and you log on at the right time,
