After playing a fictional member of the Resistance a long time ago, I never could have imagined it ever happening in real life, but here we are.

#🗃 World War II, The Marshall Plan, 50 years of the Cold War including deaths in proxy wars in jungles, deserts, and snow, all now mean nothing.

I have some great content coming up this week including a conversation with my friend @amaraniss.bsky.social . The world got me down but I am back.

For this week's #ThursdayFilmRec 🗃️🎦🎬🍿📽️🎥 #HATM Watch (or rewatch) "Active Measures" (2018), Dir. Jack Bryan Available for streaming, including for free on Tubi www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLD6...

🎧 Listen to this fascinating conversation w/ @holland-tom.bsky.social & @moudhy.bsky.social Through @tds153.bsky.social 's personal & curiosity-driven questions the stories truly come alive. 👏 ❓ Did you know that ancient scrolls were "baked" & actually preserved when a library burnt down? 🏺 🗃️

Juke joints were essential spaces in a 20th century Black entertainment ecosystem that stretched from coast to coast. Kale's Night Spot in Helena, Ark. was one of them: "That used to be a nightclub, a café or something ... a juke joint, as they were called." #BlackHistoryMonth photo 18/28. 🗃️

The next step, mark my words, will be changes to the language used by front line interpreters at National Park Service sites. 🗃️

For those of you who don't know the reference, Hitler spent a huge amount of time and resources purging what he considered "degenerate art"

#🗃 I'm really looking forward to my interview with Andrew Maraniss about this #InauguralBaller next week on the Primary Source Podcast! #govols

Today marks the 67th anniversary of the Munich air disaster. Eight members of the Manchester United FC team tragically lost their lives on the 6th February 1958 as the team returned from a European Cup match against Red Star Belgrade. #flowersofmanchester #sportshistory #MUFC

I’m gonna be on the news .. because someone is gonna say “But no one could have expected “ And I am a gonna beat they ass

The #NWSL is far from perfect, and as investment in the league continues to skyrocket, the NWSLPA is making sure the league doesn't forget about past abuse. Some thoughts on this week's announced settlement and cooperation with the Attorneys General. talkinsoccer.substack.com/p/the-nwslpa...

🗃This is a great book!

🗃 Shameless plug time! My podcast, The Primary Source, highlights the work of leading historians. This week, I sat down with Lou Moore to talk the history of the Black Quarterback. Next week, I can't wait to spend time with @amaraniss.bsky.social as we discuss history for the YA reader!

The fact that this is even remotely possible is madness.

"Intended to instill fear in teachers, this order itself ironically seems driven by fear, by a refusal to acknowledge the diversity of our nation and the wounds that cannot be healed until they are understood." 🗃️ newrepublic.com/article/1912...

It is amazing how no matter what accolades I receive for my work, I am still proudest of a good job from my parents.

@pptsapper.bsky.social Hi ASO! I was hoping to book you for an upcoming episode of my podcast where I interview historians about how history informs their lives. Been following for a while and I think you would be great.

@renatakeller.bsky.social aI would love to have you on my podcast to talk about the crisis, your book, and your career.

🗃️Up now on The Primary Source Podcast: Just in time for #SBLIX, I sit down with @profloumoore.bsky.social of Grand Valley State University to discuss Doug Williams, Vince Evans, and the rise of the black quarterback in the #NFL! Subscribe Today! open.substack.com/pub/history4...

This, so hard. As a historian, I cannot emphasize enough how people have taken for granted peace and rights that millions died to achieve - in wars, in labor strikes, in hunger strikes, in marches, in social movements…and we’re watching that sail away because people were never educated enough on WHY

🗃This is why I have launched history4publicconsumption.substack.com. People need historical antecedents to see through the fog.

🗃 @profloumoore.bsky.social and I talk about the history of the Black Quarterback on this week's episode of The Primary Source! Episode available tomorrow on Spotify and my substack for all the #NFL history fans ahead of #SBLIX History4publicconsumption.substack.com

Performative trade war

As a historian of Black history, every day for Black History Month I’ll be posting my favorite books on Black history and a link to the book to purchase if possible. Day 3 is Mary McLeod Bethune the Pan-Africanist by Ashley Robertson Preston upf.com/book.asp?id=...

🗃Really giving serious thought to putting my substack on paid. One interview podcast episode a week with leading historians, future long form bookcasts (original research) and articles. Thank you to all of you who already subscribed.
