This conclusion feels... off? Doesn't the story indicate how easily other countries can get to AI parity? And therefore how much *more* countries will have to/want to spend, just as a matter of national security?

Agree with this. It's interesting that, to take one example, just a couple of years ago, you barely heard a peep about the much more extensive use of AI in cleaning up the Get Back audio.

This was the song that finally converted me.

Interesting the ordure AI is held in right now, thanks to the shithalo of LLMs: not one of us complained when Peter Jackson made a big deal of using it to enhance the recordings of The Beatles in Get Back.
