"We effectively take our user’s central dependence on our servers and smash it to pieces, permanently ruining our plans for centralized world domination forever. It sounds awesome. It is awesome!" -Neocities, 2015 -Bluesky, 2025

I am worried for the day my joke becomes reality. It's getting closer.

I've noticed how the vast majority of politicians in power don't have the political prestige and thus job security to do anything meaningful. But these times are offering perfect opportunities to do just that. Just look at how much press van Hollen got for his stunt. Make yourself known!

A power of two! Neat.

I feel like I need to post this before it's too late.

I did it. I defeated Bluesky. My Discover feed is completely empty.

I know for a damn fact that Mark Cuban isn't supporting Bluesky out of the kindness of his heart. He wants something out of it. But until the day comes where he finally needs that favor, it'll be a pleasant surprise that a billionaire supports Bluesky and its ideals.

BREAKING: The Onion has declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy. CEO Ben Collins says, "The news cycle worsened so fast we couldn't make good satire before it just became news [...] and without a sponsor to report on favorably we couldn't compete in the news space. We weren't even there first anymore."

People may (or probably not) have noticed I'm not using Bluesky that much anymore. I've forgotten to include it as part of my daily routine, mostly because it became doomscrolling after a while. Probably my fault considering the algorithm. I'm still never gonna go back to Twitter.

The joke becomes reality. Prediction that I'm locking in now: Trump will be ousted, assassinated, or lose control of Congress by the end of 2025.

Everyone is smart, everyone is capable. However, our brains can only do so much at a time and we are all capable of having a brainfart or being clueless about something. Yes, even you. "Darwinism" only culls our future talent because of a simple singular mistake that shouldn't be that devastating.

You ever find yourself near a classic car and notice that... it smells real bad? Like, really bad? A dozen lawn mowers bad? That's because it doesn't have a catalytic converter, so it allows you to smell what burning gasoline actually smells like.

the simple truth conservatives always ignore

I hope he's just delusional. This would be up there with Gaetz, Kennedy, and Oz as one of the worst picks for government.

RFK Jr. as HHS and now Dr. Oz as CMS? Good god, America's health is about to take a huuge plunge.

You're the one that still doesn't have a custom domain.

It should be reminded time and time again that the vast majority of Trump voters were conned into their vote with promises of lower prices and such, and thus shouldn't be blamed for that. It's the intolerants among Trump's voterbase we should really be after.

Even the Community Notes have given up on Twitter.

This is public health

Knowing him, it may be all three at once.

Gimmick accounts like "such and such daily" not only making a resurgence but also appearing on my Discover page seems like proof that Bluesky is slated to replace Twitter. How good or bad is that? Well, considering enshittification is going to happen to Bluesky at some point, I don't know.

Question: how is something like this even possible when you can just verify yourself using a website? Sure, someone could impersonate you, but the handle would and should give it away.

There is a difference between harmless dumb, where it just seems silly and everyone's able to have a good laugh over it, and harmful dumb where it's genuine misinformation. The past few years have seen the unfortunate takeover of harmful dumb from the previous reign of harmless dumb.

Someone (presumably Elon Musk or friends) must've directed some money right to the judge.

[commercial for stones] are you tired of killing 2 birds with your bare fuckin hands

Everyone can be clueless sometimes about something. It's when you refuse to admit you're wrong gracefully amidst evidence that it becomes a problem.

This plays right into his hand, and is a stupid counter to his point anyways. It's far easier to just name examples of "right-wing" vitriol such as January 6th. But of course, this is on Twitter, and as much as I hate to say it, you should treat everything on Twitter like ragebait now.

"so canada post is going on strike and theres a lot of small businesses that use your service that also use canada post, what do you want to do" "clearly canada post is too powerful and needs to be abolished" "im sorry what"

she's the reason the "international human rights regime" still has meanings

this is the kind of false fact that might be possible with a couple of harbor georgs

Now if only we could look up labellers and just subscribe to a whole bunch of them at once. Now that would be convenient and push Bluesky up in terms of quality.

Trying to pollute a progressive social media rhymes with LOL. Good luck with that.

The phrase "nuclear tweets" comes to mind, or the general concept that a single tweet could cause a nuclear war, a not-out-of-the-question possibility under the first Trump administration.

(read the whole thread) This is a good lesson. I'm keeping it to heart.

To rip off a quote from Jon Bois: "It makes none of the sense in the world, so of course." I wonder, just how bad can things get? (and before you say "you fucking jinxed it you idiot", the moment Trump was elected I stopped caring. I know my life's gonna suck. Just a matter of how much and when.)
