Claude Code is the only agent I've found that's worth using. I have a suspicion that tool structure is an important part of what makes an agent successful so I'm looking forward to examining the code that has been extracted and unminified. github.com/dnakov/claud...

I used Claude Code to create a CSS design system inspired by SAGE.

I'm tempted.

One trick I'm exploring to get images of a desired aspect ratio that have a little less of the stereotypical AI look to them is to ask Claude to generate SVGs. The first image is an SVG from Claude, the second is an image from DALL·E (prompts in ALT).

I renewed my CPR certification last week, and learned something new in class: That CPR machines exist. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfgq...

Maybe you saw the viral post like"My idiot roommate turned the heat off last night. He didn’t realize that it costs more to heat the house up after you turn everything off for 8 hours." That didn't sound right, so I wrote a simulation to see the difference. turn-off-your-heater.obliscence.com

Letter of Recommendation: It's hard to say why exactly, but I enjoy this bsky robot posting flight paths of aircraft flying in circles around Los Angeles. You're welcome.

Flightradar24 data for Delta flight 4819 that crashed in Toronto shows it descending at about 1000 feet per minute over the runway, which would be way too fast. I cross-checked with ADS-B Exchange and Airplanes.Live data, and the results made me less confident about any individual ADS-B data point.

I downloaded NTSB accident databases to look for this and was unsuccessful. (Did you know the NTSB downloads are… Microsoft Access database files!?)

This is how fighter jets hunt submarines -

I almost never find clustering in maps, the kind that hides details until you zoom in, to be useful or helpful.

I love homemade radar in principle but they're almost always low-res, noisy, and hard to read. Henrik Forstén has really raised the bar with his incredible synthetic aperture radar (SAR) mounted on a drone. I can't believe how clean the imagery is. hforsten.com/homemade-pol...

Here are 70 clones of #asteroid 2024 YR4 that do hit Earth, highlighting the impact risk corridor. There are some big cities along that line: #Bogota, #Lagos, #Mumbai.

The LIDAR survey found several pieces of wreckage underwater.

Incredible referencing guide for Google StreetView, and therefore for geolocation in general: license plates, sign posts, types of bollards, roof tiles, etc. Thanks @aric.bsky.social for sharing. plonkit.net/guide

This is the best email verification code I've ever seen, from FlySto.

Our team has launched a tracker account for flights in and out of the US naval base and detention camp at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. The tracker is based on open data from ADS-B signals. Check it out here @gtmowatch.bsky.social

At about 3 AM local time last night NOAA aircraft N48RF did a topobathymetric LIDAR survey near the DCA crash site, looking for accident debris on the bottom of the river. Unlike most LIDAR this uses a visible light laser which makes for an impressive sight. globe.adsbexchange.com?icao=a5e7bd&... 1/

A topobathy LIDAR survey will be done over the Potomac tonight. The laser will be visible and it will look weird, and paranoid people will probably freak out. www.ntsb.gov/investigatio...

NEW: While responding to worst wildfires in the history of Los Angeles, FEMA employees were ordered to immediately change their vocabulary to call immigrants "aliens." "For Immediate compliance" they were told. Worker said it's "the most 1984 email Ive ever seen" www.404media.co/for-immediat...

"'In this instance, this was a training mission, so there was no compelling national security reason for ADS-B to be turned off,' Mr. Cruz said." (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/02/06/u...

Maaaaan. This GNSS simulator (i.e., spoofer) seems to go for $20K new.

"Approach for Reagan National’s Runway 33 is within feet of helicopter corridor" by the Washington Post. www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...

Good video by the LA Times on the timeline of the Palisades fire and the attempts to evacuate. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YSU...

In a subsequent briefing on the accident, the NTSB stated that PAT25 was within the lateral boundaries of the approach, which I think means whoever told the New York Times it was off-route didn't know what they were talking about.
