And so it begins. I have created my first #bot here using Blue Bots, Done Quick! It is @periodical-bot.bsky.social, which generates headlines using exclusively words made from abbreviations of elements in the periodic table every 3 hours. Thanks @bluebotsdonequick.com! #elit #DH #CyborgWriting

“The entire clause is in the ironic continuous.” 😂 I’m loving China Miéville’s creativity when it comes to imagining languages, peoples, technologies, worlds. This gem is from “The Scar.”

Sad to hear of the passing of Jo-Anne Green today. Jo-Anne and her partner Helen Thorington were responsible for Turbulence, one of the earliest Net Art commissioning organizations (& gave me and many other Net Artists our first real commissions). obits.csnh.com/jo-anne-green

Folded & assembled proof sheets for @skeuomorphpress.org’s forthcoming letterpress edition of Ursula K. Le Guin’s "A Rant About Technology"—an LIS practicum student created the woodcut illustrations of tech mentioned in the text, which we carved on the laser—I set type for the book & fold-out poster

Calling all colleagues: would anyone want to collaborate on a panel submission perhaps specifically on trans game studies for the Queerness and Games conference in Montreal this summer? Crossing my fingers as gaily as I can! #queergamestudies #transgamestudies #queernessandgames #qgcon

Someone beat me to both song title and rapper name.

All the kids are addicts whereas we are just being social and keeping up with current events, obviously.

😵‍💫

You can tell I have a deadline coming up because I spent the day...scrapping the source code of every Infocom game to make a list of every inventory-able item and then built a bot (borrowing the idea for the long defunct Twitter bot) that replies with some goodies whenever you reply i or inventory.

Hey #MLA25, #elit, & #DH folks. Today is the last day to submit proposals for the ELO 2025 conference on July 10-13. CFP: elo25.org This is a community with decades of experience with computer generated texts, digital writing, #AI, #GenAI, #bots, digital preservation, platform studies, and more.

Apparently folks think that writing that contains an em dash is a dead giveaway that it's from ChatGPT, which I guess is a sign that most people have never read anything in their lives.

Folks who joined us to discuss generative AI, bespoke and dying platforms, the future of text + more at #MLA25, please consider submitting to ELO!

I’m 💯 behind this thread. My own position favors finding a middle ground (tightrope?!) of cautious, open-eyed, measured, playful experimentation and use. And so is the MLA-CCCC Task Force on AI and Writing’s collective stance. Go read what we have to say at aiandwriting.hcommons.org

We wanted to understand the economic rationale for buying Greenland. So we talked to three unvaccinated UFC fans at a Jersey Mike's in Toms River.

My husband accused me of having an incestuous relationship with my deceased father, the night follows close, with millions of suns, and sleep and restoring darkness.

The excited crowd, the policeman with his star quickly working his passage to the centre of the crowd, and just as I was about to orgasm, my boyfriend whispered, "Cum, my preciousssss" into my ear, in his scarily accurate Gollum voice.

This ⬇️. My mental model is that people go with the resource argument because a) they really care about cultural issues but feel they're too slippery, and b) they think resource consumption will be a cut and dried irrefutable conversation ender.

That anguish as hot as the hottest and contempt as cold as the coldest may be without words, and my Spanish teacher imitated the sound of a coffee grinder, and then said in Spanish, "OK, all of you do it.".

fantastic news for us few openly proud Foucault-haters

Overheard Christian conspiracy theory at the Marshalls in Mayagüez Mall: that AI and cryptocurrency carry the Number of the Beast and are signs of the end of times and Christ’s second coming.
