I just realized that my first published short story, AND INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER was published in 2015. My debut novel, INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER, which was clearly inspired by the short, will be published almost exactly 10 years after that first publication.

@stephenking.bsky.social please respond. Is it really you back on Twitter? Or is it someone posing as you?

Soon, I will be a guest on the very talented @johnpoveromo.bsky.social podcast, Dystopia Tonight. He has had some amazing guests (Jay Leno; Paul Reiser; Will Wheaton), but will be slumming it with me. In the meantime, check out and subscribe to the podcast! www.youtube.com/@DystopiaTon...

What if we make a new “Barbenheimer” this summer for Superman and Fantastic Four? Show people that we can all get along. SuperFantasticMan? Fantastic Superman? FFSM? SMFF?

I haven't talked about it on here in a couple of weeks (I think, but time is broken for me), but I am still waiting for word from The New Yorker about my short story TETHER. So, I figured I would start manifesting it here again. Say it with me: The New Yorker will buy TETHER!

As I have now passed 30,000 words, I thought I’d share some more concept art for the Scarlet Scrapper comic strips that will be turned into promo material. *Note: these drawings come from my non-artistic hands. The actual strips will look much better.

It’s only been about a week since I sent my story TETHER to The New Yorker, and they said it can take up to three months for a response… but the wait is killing me!

Always a great time at Smodcastle. I love hearing Kevin Smith speak. Tonight was a live commentary on Mallrats. Plus, we received a Stan Lee cup!

Some (pretty much all) of my students just don't get me. It is club photo day at school, a student (wearing an FBLA shirt) came up to me and said it was time for his photo for the FBLA. I asked how I can trust his word that he's in the club. He didn't know how to prove it. 🤔

I am over 25k words into RE-INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER, book 2 in the Scrapper trilogy. So, I thought I would share some more concept art for the comic strip being drawn up as promo/giveaway material for pre-orders. INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER will be released Sept 23rd.

Just in case you didn’t think I was cool, there was this one time I drove the Batmobile.

I just submitted my short story TETHER to The New Yorker! Say it with me: They will publish my story.

Today I set up my first book event at a (semi) local bookstore! This will take place in October, so I snagged it. Hopefully, I can set up some others closer to the release date in September. I guess I should start on developing the promo stuff.

With nothing really to post about at the moment, I thought it would be a good idea to remind people about Calvin and Hobbes.

@heatherantos.bsky.social you’re going to the Super Jersey Expo again?! It will be held about 10 minutes from where I live!

Got my first beta reader response. They loved my short story TETHER. Awaiting two more, then final edits and off to The New Yorker. Say it with me: TETHER will be published in The New Yorker!

My short story TETHER is in the hands of beta readers. Once I take it as far as I can, I will submit it to The New Yorker. Say it with me: TETHER will be published in The New Yorker!

I finished the first draft of the short story that I plan to submit to The New Yorker. It probably needs a bit of fleshing out, but I am happy with this draft. Say it with me: I will get accepted into The New Yorker!

I just broke 20,000 words in RE-INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER. In celebration, here is concept art for the comic strip that will be part of the promos for the first book, INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER, out Sept. 23, 2025!

I began work on my short story that I will eventually submit to The New Yorker. It is called Tether and it's about human connections and bonds. I have an idea for a second story that I will write at some point with the same goal: publishing in The New Yorker.

So, I decided that I would like to have a short story in The New Yorker. Is that aiming high? Yes. Yes it is. But I am going to manifest the crap out of this!

I just got the first concept art for my Scarlet Scrapper comic script. I am excited to see more. When the strips are complete, I plan to put them on T-shirts for promos and giveaways.

Being a writer is suddenly waking up at 4 in the morning with an idea to improve your manuscript, and jotting down the idea isn’t enough, so you sit down to write. Sleep deprivation be damned!

For INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER, set in the 40's, I watched old movie serials and listened to a lot of radio shows of the time. To help promote the book's release I had the scripts I wrote for the radio show produced. Check them out on Youtube. Link is in the comments.

One of my favorite parts about writing the Scarlet Scrapper books is that each section opens up with a script page. The first book, in the 1940's, has excerpts from the fictional radio show. The second book, set in the 70's has TV scripts. The third, set now, will be a movie.

Part 1 of RE-INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER is complete! I love being in this world with Frank Hodge leading the way. I love continuing his story and getting to see the next chapter of his life.

A plot description for INTRODUCING THE SCARLET SCRAPPER in 3 posts: Set in the 1940's when radio ruled the world. When Thomas Malloy witnesses the murder of his parents and narrowly escapes his own demise, he sets out to find the only man who can help, the Scarlet Scrapper.
