This work by Anselm Kiefer portrays the warrior queen Brunhild, a major character in the medieval Nibelungen saga, and in Richard Wagner’s 19th-century opera The Ring of the Nibelung.

I really love how unhinged classical artists were. (This is about Richard Wagner, composer of the Ring cycle)

Listening to Meyerbeer on @bbcradio3bot.bsky.social . His music is actually quite attractive, but as soon as Wagner came along, he was forgotten about. Of his works I have seen L'AFRICAINE and ROBERT LE DIABLE.
