JUST GIVE PEOPLE CASH! Or as close to cash as possible. It makes programs more expensive to administer and there are no big health gains from restricting what people can use SNAP benefits for. www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

Hear from Senator Markey and some amazing experts on these topics (and me) tomorrow

Since the fall I've had the privilege of driving forward the most inclusive process (yet) to establish @projectbread.org state legislative agenda for 2025-2026. Today, I'm thrilled to share it with the world. projectbread.org/news/our-202... Massachusetts friends, help us pass these bills!

Seeking recommendations on the question "when and how are protests effective?". Books, podcasts, articles... any of it.

If we can all wear green today, we can unify against this corrupt oligarchy.

I honestly can’t decided whether a shutdown is the right move at this time. But I am confident what Democrats need now is to flex what power they do have. This “will they, won’t they” dynamic doesn’t serve anyone, but Republicans, Donald Trump, or Elon Musk. Stand up or stand aside.

In these turbulent times, it was nice putting together this list of ways we can stay focused.

Ban all the dyes you want, you can’t be serious about “making America healthy again” if you’re to pull this shit. But maybe it was never about health…

NEW: Some key Republicans may be planning to impose SNAP food benefit costs on states, forcing them to pay up or cut food assistance to low-income families. Here's why that would worsen hunger & hurt states' ability to meet the needs of their residents: www.cbpp.org/research/foo...

Don’t let babies go hungry. Fully fund #WIC. WIC is a nutrition lifeline for pregnant people, new parents, babies, and toddlers. Right now, Congress is debating over funding for the program. With food costs increasing and WIC aiding more households, we need more funding this year.

I recall leaving the office and telling colleagues "see you in 2 weeks!"

Republican leaders in Congress are seeking to extend and expand tax breaks for the richest American households and businesses.

TIL cromulent is in the dictionary. So it will now be my go to answer for "How are you?" www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/c...

If Republicans make massive cuts to Medicaid, it will impact all aspects of our health care system. Millions of kids will lose coverage, hospital and insurance rates will soar and nursing homes will shut down. All this in order to give huge tax breaks to billionaires.  NO CUTS TO MEDICAID.

So it’s possible to be Chicken Little even when the sky is falling. Not fucking helpful. Medicaid has not be decimated or cut. We can and will stop that from happening. Please Democratic Party please step up the advocacy and crack down on groups fear mongering to fundraise.

Thank you, sir. This meme is for you.

The Republican proposals are cruel and irresponsible. They will do irreparable harm. But the story isn’t finished yet. We have stopped them before. We can stop them, again. We WILL stop them this time.

We’re calling on you to protect food assistance for Massachusetts families. #Medicaid and #SNAP are vital, lifesaving programs we cannot afford to lose. Join us in urging Congress to protect these critical programs that fight food insecurity!   ➡️ projectbread.quorum.us/campaign/111...

On Feb. 19, President Donald Trump signed an executive order targeting access to federally funded health and social services for undocumented individuals. This executive order comes straight out of the current playbook designed to invoke fear and discourage people from seeking support.

I have been thinking about the hard work so many did to get us to the point where DEI felt mainstream. Why should anyone trust a white leader’s rhetoric ever, again? I’m never backing down from my commitment to equity and justice. Get some snacks, it’s going to be a long road back, but we’re going

Is anyone surprised the guy who dreamt up cybertruck is full of garbage ideas?

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

How's everyone managing news consumption? I need (and want) to stay informed, but not sure my newspaper is sufficient and while I love the community on Bluesky, this isn't it either. If you think you have a good system, please share.
