Hegseth Fires Navy’s Top Officer www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u... So she was fired for cause? What cause would that be?

It is after Trump had claimed the US would take Gaza over, with Israels absorption of the West Bank and Jerusalem (displacing Palestinian occupants) speeding up. Some changes have reached tipping points.

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com "I'm not a fan of populism, but real populism would be better than the right-wing elite nihilists who are running the country now," our columnist David Brooks writes.

DOGE could blow American spies’ cover, @shaneharris.bsky.social writes. Counterintelligence is in crisis:

Is what Trump is doing Constitutional? Probably not. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Very provocative look at the populism that brought Trump and Vance to the WH. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/09/o...

This seems very likely, and will dramatically destabilize society. It isn’t necessary to elaborate. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Clearly, what we’re witnessing was planned, and it has been multilayered. Project 2025 immediately comes to mind, however, the role played by the oligarchy (not just Musk) is likely unappreciated. Perhaps this should be seen as a final battle.

Just the other day he told the chairwoman of the election commission that she was fired. And now this. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Trump tells the head of the Federal Election Commission that she's been fired, but she's refusing to leave office.

Really, and starting on day 1. Even if it’s highly illegal, the DoJ isn’t likely to do anything, but a later one might. If the law is clear, the Supreme Court should try to stop this, but at least two justices are probably happy with the state of affairs. en.protothema.gr/2025/02/01/m...

www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/u... with so much business before the government, who doesn't work for the government, has taken control of its machinery. It's not how democracy works, it leads to its destruction. But hey, DJT was impeached 2x for this, and is following Project 2025, a roadmap.

A fascinating character, and this is relatively dense information that's consistent with my prior understanding. As that's based on disparate sources, I felt the evidence has significant weight. m.youtube.com/watch?v=qgqr...

Not so surprising, but still shocking. wapo.st/4hD1gUZ

I’m told thatvThiel and Yarvin had even been watching the results of the 2016 election together. This episode was broadcast before the election, but most Americans weren’t able to see it. If more had, the result would been different. youtu.be/VeVhHNSe9Ks

Of course Project 2025 has been central. Vought and many from the first Trump administration wrote it, with some Executive Orders literally copying and pasting. www.cnn.com/2024/08/15/p...

Does this seem too arcane for people to understand? It’s actually quite clear; however, media like Fox, Sinclair Broadcasting, talk radio or X will likely not clue their audiences in. By all means, it should be a small task to fill your friends in. wapo.st/40ASr7k

www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2... Remember why that name change occurred. Remember how central X was to DJT reentering the WH, and how Meta has now made it a ménage à trois.

Users should already be thinking about decamping. But it gets worse. wapo.st/4gbw7H3

Trump ousts at least 12 independent inspectors general in late-night purge It matters that these offices were created to keep presidents in check. After Nixon and Watergate it was clear this was necessary. And now, seeing 12 dispatched by a twice impeached president?

thehill.com/policy/energ... lots of money to some kinds of politicians has become too good an investment.

Fascinating, very good overview of the Internet and how it could evolve. There’s a link to a video interview as well, the best part. finance.yahoo.com/news/big-tec...

phys.org/news/2025-01... Bacterial digestion of thawed carbs are a feedback to warming. Potentially, an awful lot of CO2 and methane will result. Trump and his backers are set to devastate the biosphere, but it isn’t too late to do anything about it, better to think that it’s never too early;).

@gobluerev.bsky.social Well, we should try to remember. Also, without seeming a scold, perhaps share the report and story. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
