One night Alexandria Miller, 20, decided to go to the store for a soft drink. After waiting for a ride, Alexandria decided to walk instead. She never returned.

The longer we leave streets in their "normal," high-speed, car-oriented state, the more we risk injury and death for all street users. It’s a price, writes Guest Columnist Rebecca Serna of Propel ATL, we shouldn’t have to pay. Thank you @saportareport.bsky.social! saportareport.com/how-many-liv...

Atlanta has seen the consequences of inaction. Now, we demand action. A crosswalk at Peachtree Center is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. The city must not delay safety any longer. Let's get it done.

📢 Uncertain times call for unwavering support. Propel ATL fights continually for safe streets and sustainable transportation — producing research like this week's "The Human Cost of Mobility" that results in media coverage and attention from policymakers — but we can’t do it without you.

Tune in TODAY, March 6, to WABE, 90.1 FM, to hear Propel ATL executive director Rebecca Serna and activist Satya Bhan on "Closer Look" with Rose Scott. The topic: "The Human Cost of Mobility," our annual look at traffic crashes, their systemic causes, and potential solutions.

Georgians, call your legislators! HB638, a bipartisan bill that would allow automated enforcement of bus-only lanes, will help to keep transit running smoothly. But the clock is ticking...

@letspropelatl.bsky.social has a new report out today exploring traffic fatalities in 2023 across Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton counties. They found 45% of crashes involving pedestrians happened within 150 feet of a bus station: www.ajc.com/news/atlanta...

“The Human Cost of Mobility,” a new story map from Propel ATL, provides key geographic, demographic, & storytelling context for upward-trending Metro Atlanta traffic deaths, highlighting the human lives behind the statistics & providing recommendations for making our roads safer spaces for everyone.

Deep thanks for your short-notice support! We received almost 400 signatures, and the resolution passed the Georgia Senate's Public Safety Committee unanimously. It now heads to the Rules Committee. If it passes Rules it will come up for a floor vote this session. Please stay tuned for updates.

URGENT! On Monday, March 3 at 7:30 a.m., the Georgia Senate Public Safety Committee will consider creating a committee to tackle pedestrian and cyclist fatalities, sometimes referred to as Vulnerable Roadway Users, in Georgia.

Since the hasty demise of the Peachtree Street shared space project in downtown Atlanta, in 2022, it has always seemed like a matter of time before this action would lead to a preventable death. Main photo: Atlanta Dept. of City Planning Inset photo: Puja Jabbour via AJC 1/

Georgia Department of Transportation has proposed two safety-enhancing projects -- one along East College Avenue (SR 10) in Decatur and Avondale, and another along 14th Street (SR 9) in the City of Atlanta. Each project includes new bike lanes and pedestrian safety improvements.

ICYMI on this Transit Equity Day, MARTA's bus network redesign meetings are still ongoing -- Wednesday on Zoom, Thursday in Tucker, and two more online. Details: www.martanextgenbusnetwork.com/connect

Two meetings, same theme. Recent Atlanta City Council Transportation Committee meetings, on Dec. 11, 2024 and Jan. 29, 2025, covered the same basic issue -- project delivery not meeting expectations and falling behind schedule.

MARTA is implementing a "Next Gen" bus network redesign with a goal of connecting more people to more destinations in less time. The proposed new network provides less coverage, but more frequency aimed at producing greater ridership.

115 people are killed each year, on average, while walking, biking, or scooting in Fulton, DeKalb, and Clayton counties. Together with you, we will grow our movement in 2025 to create a safer, more accessible city. Will you join us in the fight against traffic violence? letspropelatl.org/yea2024

We’re excited about MARTA’s announcement to restore five-minute train frequencies during peak hours (6-9 AM & 3-7 PM) at stations inside the highlighted zone. While this is a step forward, it’s also a return to pre-pandemic service levels from 2019. 1/

Crosswalks? Bus network? Bike lanes? Vision Zero? We want to know what's important to you, so we can advocate with decision makers for the right 2025 investments and policies, as we move ATL closer to a place where everyone can safely walk, run, cycle, scoot, or ride transit. bit.ly/4gIL6sM
