No story rejections again today.

This. Today I went to the local bakery, cheese shop, and small organic grocery.

The United States ranks 54th globally in freedom, compared to other countries. Please, let’s not slip farther. freedomhouse.org/countries/fr...

Omg it finally hit me. I’m getting HIMS ads on FB b/c the algorithm is guessing I’m a guy. No, ma’am. Just bi/pan/omni.

I’m reading @carolrohspaulding.bsky.social’s novel, Helen Button, and I have to say it’s timely reading about WWII and the French Resistance rn, and the parallels it draws with our current time.

Happy Maybe I Won’t Get A Rejection Today to those celebrating.

Thanks to the New Ohio Review for asking me to write about dance in poetry. The other essays in the special feature "Dance as Joy and Resistance" are wonderful! A peek at the first page of "The Dancing." Support our literary magazines! Order a copy! newohioreview.org/tag/nor-35/

I received two story rejections yesterday. I celebrated by submitting them elsewhere, along with two more. Doing the thing.

“I know who I am. Or rather, there are areas where memory forms itself, becomes autonomous, acquires new guises, spreads over the sleepwalker like a gentle veil.” ~ Werner Herzog From his memoir, Every Man for Himself and God Against All

I think we all need a baby tapir break rn. Enjoy.

Happy to see that my story has now been published in audio, narrated by the wonderful Kate Baker. Please do listen, if you haven't already 😊

Today I revised a novelette that had racked up a few rejections, and sent off the newly polished version into the wild. Do well, my child!

Two stories polished and submitted into the wild today.

Watching the next installment of how stupid IS this presidential administration?

Horror anthology alert. @atgreenblatt.bsky.social, @acwise.bsky.social, Brian Evenson and more!

Who remembers submitting stories in the U.S. Mail in manilla envelopes with a SASE enclosed? 🙋‍♀️

I’ve written three stories so far this year. I’ll be sending one out today.

Sentiment for the day: “I will try to focus on ‘I have a Dream’ instead of ‘We have a Nightmare.” Thanks, Steve.

My job used to include collecting data on convicted sex offenders and identifying their risk factors. I can only imagine how people not used to reading these accounts are feeling about the recent Vulture article about N.G. Please, practice self-care and talk to someone if you need to.

I tell you, an email from someone who’s a physicist in theoretical quantum mechanics who is also a science fiction fan sure made my morning.

I’m almost done listening to @aptshadow.bsky.social read his novel, Service Model, and wow what a ride it’s been. A quirky buddy adventure wrapped inside a freaking horrid future, with humor and heart.

My 2024 #poem "Gorgoneion" qualifies for the short-form Rhysling Award at @sfpoetry.bsky.social. Find it in Katabatic Circus Vol. 1 or in the #SFPA members' drive. A nomination would be lovely! #vote #rhysling #rhyslingaward #sfpoetry #canadianpoet #awardconsideration @angrygablepress.bsky.social

I have three partially written stories. Time to get one of them done!
