Thanks for hosting me, @maynoothuniversity.ie! It was a really great time!

Very excited to have @levijohnwolf.bsky.social on campus @maynoothuni.bsky.social tomorrow for a talk on 'City systems and the cause of inequality' for the Geography Department Seminar Series - excited for the talk, stop in if you're around!

I really enjoyed our conversation, and I hope you do, too!

This HN thread on @anthropic.com asking job applicants to not use AI is fascinating… I've seen talented LLM-loving students plateau & burn out on problems the LLM bungles. Seems I'm not alone. Even if LLMs improve, will that plateau ever go away? I doubt it. news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4291...

We're nearing the deadline, too! Come join us for a rad time in Bristol this April!

The 2025 GISRUK abstract deadline has now been extended to January 31st, 2025! We're really excited to welcome papers rethinking the role "Process" plays in GIScience. We hope to see your abstract real soon! app.oxfordabstracts.com/stages/76668...

Another year in the books! Join @rsfrankl.bsky.social, @darribas.bsky.social, and I in a GLaD Podcast on our year in Geography, Life, and Data—work/life balance (maybe?) in a year of "too much yes," data+model innovations in 2024 & beyond, and NYT's Spelling Bee! www.podbean.com/eas/pb-w4mrv...

The GIS Research UK (GISRUK) 2025 Call for Abstracts is live! This year's theme is **Process in Geographic Information Science,** re-thinking the link between the patterns we see and what we represent on our computer screens. See you in Bristol April 23-25! gisruk.org/gisruk-2025

Full of gratitude to receive The Michael Breheny Prize this year by Environment and Planning B: #Urban Analytics and #City Science. 🙏🏽 @leonardonclt.bsky.social did such an excellent job to convert this work into an accessible framework! Award: doi.org/10.1177/2399... Web: www.cityaccessmap.com

reminder that Luc, Serge, Pedro, Levi and I are teaching spatial analysis, econometrics, and optimization at NARSC tomorrow. Can still register for remote www.narsc.org/newsite/conf... www.narsc.org/newsite/wp-c... ...or just play in codespaces if you want github.com/sjsrey/works...

new paper out today with Serge, Clio and Zak in Networks and Spatial Economics. We develop a bipartite spatial weights matrix extending spatial econometric models to account for multi-contextual spillovers with a focus on neighborhood/school effects link.springer.com/article/10.1...

So excited to finally have a “Fox and Wolf” paper in the wild! Any other zoononynous collaborators! hmu!

Lovely to hear from our new colleague @trivikrama.bsky.social as part of our #QuSSBristol seminar series. Thinking about how to embed principles of spatial justice in the analysis and governance of urban challenges. @levijohnwolf.bsky.social

The special issue that Somwrita, @levijohnwolf.bsky.social and I coordinated is EPB's current issue! In it you can find 17 stimulating articles to explore the relationship between urban {form, size, infrastructure, mobility} and inequalities all in one place. journals.sagepub.com/toc/epbb/51/7

Our first Quantitative Spatial Science #QuSSBristol seminar of 2024/25 in Bristol Geography ✨ Our very own Becky Collins telling us about all things laser-scanning, whilst seruptitiously trying to convert us into physical geographers (nice try) 💚 @levijohnwolf.bsky.social

What do you think? How can you get visibility and still be nice on social media? We've got a few ideas, but we're keen to hear yours!

🎙️ Only 2 more sleeps to the event of the season: the #GLaDpodcast Holiday Special! ☃️✨🎅 This year @levijohnwolf.bsky.social, Dani Arribas-Bel & I are joined by VERY special guests Elizabeth Delmelle, Özge Öner & Jon Reades (@jreades.bsky.social) for ...🥁🥁... A Vibe Check on Cities 🧨☄️🔥 (#geosky)

My first editorial at Environment and Planning, B is up today! I hope to put together a few a year on where we go *beyond* open science. It was really fun to write, so let me know if it's fun to read :)

📣 New #GLaDpodcast episode just dropped! We talk with academic "quitters"—or upgraders!—Seth Spielman, Frances Darlington-Pollock & Carson Farmer to hear why they left academia, where they went, and what makes a good work + research life in and out of the academy. open.spotify.com/episode/5v87...
