Trump and Musk are gutting the programs our kids need to succeed—undermining education, wrecking research, and hitting Southern California’s economy hard. I won’t stand for it.

This week I met with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Oceanside. We discussed our eroding beaches and the next steps the Army Corps must take to combat coastal erosion.

I recently joined the Stay Classy Podcast to give them an update on everything happening in Washington and what I’m doing to ensure the Trump Administration follows the Constitution.

The Trump admin’s proposed cuts would devastate UCSD, harm San Diego’s economy, stall scientific progress, and weaken America’s leadership in research and innovation.

Happy 30th Birthday to the Coaster Train! I had a great time talking about the work we’ve done to ensure the train stays up and running for decades to come.

I’m grateful to honor Oceanside trailblazer, Charlesetta Reece Allen. The post office on Seagaze Drive has been formally dedicated as the “Charlesetta Reece Allen Post Office Building.”

Reminder that Congressional Republicans want to cut Medicaid so they can give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.

Congressional Republicans want to slash $880 BILLION from Medicaid to pay for tax cuts to billionaires. I went to Vista Community Clinic to speak out.

Elon Musk has no business interfering in veterans’ health care. The VA is not his plaything. This is not a company he can take over and break apart like he’s done with Twitter. We are talking about millions of veterans’ lives and their private information.

ICYMI: I spoke with the Brogressive podcast to break down all things DOGE, inflation, foreign policy, and even baseball.

What happened to bringing costs down on day one?

One of my top priorities in Congress has been working to fight the homelessness crisis in our community. I’m glad I was able to secure $2.25 million in federal funding to help open Oceanside’s first year-round homeless shelter, and I’ll keep fighting for the resources we need.

From the Trump Admin’s recent actions to discussing Elon Musk, the Appropriations Committee, and the spent fuel at San Onofre, I sat down with the OC Register to talk about what I’ve been working on in Washington.

Incompetent chaos from Trump and Musk: They’re firing “probationary” federal employees—but either don’t realize or don’t care that this includes people recently promoted to be managers or supervisors who are doing a good job. This isn’t efficiency, it’s reckless and dangerous.

Andrew is one of the thousands of people in our community hoping for a cure. The administration’s decision to cut funding for medical research hurts Andrew, his family, and the countless others in our community just like him.

Congressional Republicans want to cut Medicaid to give tax breaks to billionaires and giant corporations. They are telling working families, seniors, and people with disabilities that it is OK for them to get sicker so that billionaires like Elon Musk can get even richer.

This Presidents’ Day, I’m thinking about the system our Founders helped create, one with strong checks and balances. I can only imagine what they would think today.

Thanks to the leaders from MiraCosta College and Palomar College for joining me in D.C. I’ll always work to make sure community colleges get the federal resources they deserve.

It’s critical we move the spent nuclear fuel at San Onofre as quickly and safely as possible. We have a bipartisan plan—through funding, legislation, and negotiation—to make it happen. It won’t happen overnight, but we will get it done.

This week, I met with San Miguel Fire and Rescue to thank them for all of the work they do. They’ve played a critical role in keeping our communities safe from the recent wildfires.

I just sent a letter to the Secretary of Veterans' Affairs expressing concern that arbitrary VA layoffs and other moves could hurt our veterans.

No matter who is in power—or what changes they bring to our federal government—we cannot change our commitment to serving our veterans.

Just wrapped up a press conference in San Diego—the VA just arbitrarily fired 1,000+ workers, which could mean longer wait times and worse care for our veterans. I’m all for efficiency, but this isn’t it.

Happy Valentine’s Day, especially to my wonderful wife, Chrissy. I hope everyone’s day is filled with love and maybe even some chocolate.

DOGE, aka Destruction of Government by Elon, is acting without consulting Congress and doing great harm. The federal government is not a company he can take over and break apart like he’s done with Twitter. youtu.be/_lYMlkeCxWE

We are watching an attempted Great Billionaire Takeover of our government. We cannot abandon the checks and balances that our Founders created. The risk to our nation is too high. https://buff.ly/42WgIHH

House Republicans just unveiled their plan to rip away health care from kids, seniors, and people with disabilities. And for what? To give tax breaks to billionaires like Elon Musk. You can’t make this stuff up.

As a member of the Appropriations Committee on the subcommittee with oversight of the VA budget, I will be demanding answers about who these employees are and whether their firing will impact quality of care and benefits for our veterans.

House Republicans just released their proposed budget. Under their plan, anyone who gets health care through the Affordable Care Act would see their costs increase by $3,370 per year. For what? More tax breaks for billionaires.

Republicans want to cut trillions in spending for Medicare, Medicaid, and food assistance. For what? Tax cuts for billionaires. And they plan to increase the deficit.

My Republican colleagues are blowing up the guardrails against presidential overreach. Would they accept a future Democratic president ignoring checks and balances this way?

NIH funding cuts will directly harm research institutions in our community. This would mean compromising medical breakthroughs on countless diseases like Alzheimer’s, cancer, diabetes, and more.

Inflation is still climbing, but the new administration clearly isn’t focused on bringing prices down. I’m ready to work on solutions. Where are my Republican colleagues?

Over 72,000 people in our community rely on MediCal. Over 16,000 households rely on SNAP. Republicans are trying to slash the programs our neighbors rely on. I’ll keep doing everything I can to stop them.

I had a great discussion with over 5,000 of you about everything going on in Washington. If you missed the town hall you can watch the recording here.

Today, I spoke on the floor about the dangers of DOGE: Destruction of Government by Elon. youtu.be/aba-wq1xijU

Tonight, I’m going live at 5:45 PT on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, and my website to provide some updates from Washington D.C. Make sure to tune in. Levin.house.gov/live

I met with officials from South OC Community College District to talk about how I can ensure our students and educators still get the support they need.

I joined the House Natural Resources Committee to let my colleagues know that we don’t want more oil rigs along our Southern California coast. Watch:

If we want efficiency and transparency in government, then we need it in ALL of government. The public should not be kept in the dark about what Elon and DOGE are up to.

Thank you to the over 5,000 constituents who joined my telephone town hall last night. Great questions and discussion. If you want to hear more about my work for you, please subscribe to my newsletter. https://buff.ly/3PtiE2q

The new administration wants to gut funding for life-saving medical research, and if they succeed, it will have a catastrophic impact. We must not let this happen. Lives are on the line. youtu.be/8-uf9JLS9-o

As the only Member from San Diego on the House Appropriations Committee, I won’t sit back and allow Elon Musk to usurp Congress’s power of the purse.

I was one of thirteen Members of Congress who made every single vote the last couple of years. When I promised to show up for our district, I meant it.

Reminder to join me for tonight’s telephone town hall. I’m looking forward to having a good discussion with our community to talk about what’s been going on in Washington.

Heartbroken to learn that one of our Marines stationed on Camp Pendleton was killed over the weekend in an airplane crash. Chrissy and I are praying for his family and loved ones.

The Trump Admin is shutting down the agency that protects Americans from fraud and predatory lending—without Congress. It’s not just bad policy; it’s another attack on Congress itself. Have Congressional Republicans no understanding of checks and balances?

I spoke out against the billionaire takeover of our federal government. We must fight back and thwart this blatant threat to our democracy.

Trump and his allies are dismantling checks and balances, overriding Congress, and handing power to a few billionaires. This Great Billionaire Takeover threatens our schools, our economy, and our democracy. But we are not powerless. I’m fighting back—and I need you to stay in the fight with me.

I’m hosting my next telephone town hall on February 11 at 5pm PDT. I know a lot of people in our community have questions, and I hope to address some of your concerns.
