Big if true

Love to see it

For fascists, the chaos and the "failures" are the point, not mistakes. The more chaos results, the more they can focus people on scapegoats while continuing power grabs. Do not measure success by the usual metrics: we are talking about a construct in which tragedy is a tactic.

Trump is trying to Humpty Dumpty the government such that it can never be put back together again. Good people are lining up to try and stop him. Where does that leave our efforts in the courts? Our @lizdye.bsky.social has you covered.

Incredible levels of grift and corruption happening right in front of us

Let's not that Musk went on Joe Rogan and repeated his claim that he believes the entirety of Social Security is itself a fraud and should be abolished. He's also lying about pervasive fraud within the system which clearly means he plans to stop millions of people checks.

Note that not only are they stopping payment to farmers in Kansas (and across the farm belt) for work already completed. They're doing the same to USAID contractors abroad, cutting off payment for work already done. So many of those aid orgs have already gone under. US farmers next.

There it is. The opening salvo is cooking the national books. They've tipped the whole economy into recession. So this their angle. And as long as we're talking about Dept of Commerce, when do we starting hearing about those cash on the barrel deals for pardons and well everything?

This is the second time USAID/State is punishing people revealing the truth that Marco is killing children. They're quite desperate to hide this fact, as if the reporters in Africa or court declarations are making it up.

This is called fraudulent accounting, and it’s what Trump was found criminally guilty of by a New York court.

The administration got rid of 18F under the cover of night. People who own skyscrapers are afraid of 100 people who make websites. Not because of the latest tech fad, but because we proved the government can be fixed, the government can be made better and the government can work for the people.

A lot of people are going to die from this

Francis Collins led the mapping of the human genome, and chose to do big scientific to benefit the public. He is a a former NIH Director. He just resigned his position in government. His resignation letter: www.nytimes.com/2025/03/01/u...

This is not an effort to roll back "DEI" It's an effort to roll back civil rights "Agencies across the federal government are dismantling offices that enforce civil rights and antidiscrimination laws...weakening the government’s ability to deliver on legal obligations to protect workers’ rights"

That political space many Rs inhabit that they are not with Trump on Putin/Ukraine but support his domestic agenda became a lot more problematic today.

When you're suddenly desperate to convince people it's a good thing you drove the economy into recession.

I love the French word “lunaire,” here used in a headline to describe the Oval Office scene. It means “surreal”, or rather, “you just can’t believe what you’re watching, it’s so staggering”

It's absolutely insane that Elon Musk and his wrecking crew are saying they're firing entire swaths of our government infrastructure and the press are just like "oh that's sad but what are you gonna do, guess they're fired." It is batshit crazypants, and it's being covered like normal policy choices

Please enjoy my last ever post at Climate.gov/ENSO Blog. This afternoon I was fired by the Trump Administration 15 days before my 2yr probationary period ended on March 13. I have worked at NOAA since 2010, and I'm so incredibly proud of the work I did. If anyone wants a quote, let me know.

Federal career public servants are heroes, the end.

same! i found out about this pretty recently and love love it!!

As the LATimes has more layoffs and good journalism about this city is hard to come by, I have been absolutely loving LA Podcast with @awalkerinla.bsky.social and folks, which feels like a genuine good rundown of city issues designed for real people rather than financial stakeholders. thelapod.com

Crazy enough that Musk-Trump regime is cutting jobs, programs and services to justify their tax cuts for billionaires and corporations, but adding on a scheme to buy volatile Bitcoin while cryptocurrency is replete with scandals, scams and corruption is insane. www.crisesnotes.com/a-scam-built...

Donald Trump's tax breaks for billionaires and billionaire corporations are NOT "cost free". The real cost will be health care cuts for: - New moms and their babies - Grandma in the nursing home - Kids with disabilities Threatening your health care for billionaire handouts.

Important: A *Republican* Congressman, Austin Scott, just wrote to Marco Rubio urging him to address the problems I reported on below that are putting lifesaving treatment for severely malnourished children abroad at risk. He joins Dem Rep Seth Magaziner. Horrific stuff:

yet again a major newspaper takes what a bunch of proven liars claim and unquestioningly publishes it as fact in a headline despite all evidence being to the contrary

We're literally being ruled by the shittiest trolls on Twitter. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/26/u...

TV news is dying because the entire medium of broadcast and cable TV is dying, and streaming is not interested in news as a business. This is from me from last year: prospect.org/culture/2024...

Jeff Bezos says WaPo will no longer publish viewpoints that are against "free markets," as well as viewpoints against "personal liberties" (I have a feeling he means something very specific by the latter, and opeds about how we need to throw trans rights under the bus will still show up).

The next things that go wrong in aviation will be because of Musk, Trump, and Doge. By me: fallows.substack.com/p/they-were-...

@maddow.msnbc.com leading this evening with Rep from my home district in Calif, MAGA guy Jay Obernolte, getting roundly booed in Yucca Valley, San Bernardino county, for failing to stand up for Congressional power of purse. Chants of "No more Musk" and "do your job." Pressure can make a diff.

🚨🚨ALERT🚨🚨: If you want Democrats to hold the line on Musk's illegal funding/firing spree, **RIGHT NOW** is time to make your voice heard. This update below is about just that. Not clear how hard a line they're taking. GOPS are abt to shutdown the govt. Their leadership wants Dem help outmaneuver...

New episode of LA Podcast out today! @awalkerinla.bsky.social @hayesdavenport.bsky.social & @levitus.bsky.social discuss the local impacts of Elon Musk’s federal government takeover and reminisce about how he got his start right here in LA thelapod.com/episode/elon...

NEW: Info gathered from Musk's 5 accomplishments email is expected to be run through an AI system to determine whether or not someone's work is mission-critical, according to three sources with knowledge of the system www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog...

Boy that is … stark

the sneering smug belittling of the destroyed working lives of the federal workforce has a kind of let-them-eat-cake energy that seems bound to generate an equal and opposite off with their heads reaction

There won’t be an agency infrastructure or staff left to resume its functions once the judiciary gets around to assessing this lawlessness for what it is.

Someone once described him as a canned ham covered in Vaseline and I’ve never unseen it. But seriously this guy is a psychopath who should be nowhere near a position of power

Trump is trying to do two separate things: 1.) become an authoritarian leader, and 2.) implement a massively unpopular policy program. These goals conflict with each other and are hopefully self sabotaging in the end. 1x

"Unfortunately, rather than be shocked by each time Trump or one of his closest allies utter something openly authoritarian, we need to take a step back and realize that the Republican Party has become an authoritarian political party."

Jeffries: hey the GOP controls the government, absolutely nothing i can do, gonna work on my personal book tour Sanders: brb i am going to personally barnstorm strategic GOP house districts and try to peel off 2 votes so we can block Trump's cuts to Medicaid www.commondreams.org/news/bernie-...

Elon is hiring criminals to work for DOGE because it is a criminal conspiracy

Every day, they're testing how far they can take this. If they think they can take it all the way, they absolutely will. But we don't have to let them.

A poll of swing-district voters is already showing heaps of warning signs for Republicans bent on helping billionaires. That was fast.
