It's half term, which means I have a copy of Primary Reading Simplified to give away. Simply *repost* this post for your chance to win. I will choose a winner at random this Saturday (22nd February).

The ITT student who’s been in my class for the last 6 weeks bought me a multi pack of monster munch as a thank you for the end of his placement and I genuinely think it’s one of the best present I’ve ever received

Early start as I’m off to the big smoke for the #PixlPrimaryConference

First game of 2025. Absolutely freezing

A gentle reminder that many colleagues and pupils may not have had a lovely Christmas. It might have been awful. They may be very happy to be back where it feels safe, or where there's routine, or where there's company. They may be dreading the question 'what did you do then' or 'what did you get?'.

Last bit of fun before back to reality tomorrow. Cinema trip and Nosferatu

Read loads this year. Some belters, some not so much. My personal favourite I read was Gallows Pole by Benjamin Myers

What an absolutely glorious sight. Happy Boxing Day Forest fans #NFFC

Currently in that magical part of Christmas where the house is full of food but nobody’s allowed to eat any of it

Genuinely think that is the first time I’ve wanted man united to win. Come on Forest #COYR

I know Twitter is now a lawless Mad Max esque hellscape but sometimes it does crop up with pure unadulterated gold like this

Morgan Gibbs-White you beautiful man #COYR

Interssting article. The only issue i really have with the MTC is that it tests typing as much as it does maths. I worked with lots of children who lnow their tables but cant type quick enough www.tes.com/magazine/ana...

Couple of days in London for some early birthday celebrations. Couple of beers in Camden. Happy half term

York is blooming lovely. Really nice visit up there to see my lad at uni

Obviously I’ve driven 100 miles to visit my son at uni and he’s not answering his phone when I get here 🙄

Parents evening done. First one at this school. Really nice and positive conversations and appreciative and lovely parents

Cracking afternoon inviting parents in to showcase our writing. Kids performed amazingly, parents happy. Well done everyone #PrimaryEnglish #EduSkyPrimary

The band in the pub played Rage Against the Machine at the exact same time I thought ‘ooh I need a seat’ I can only rage if I’m sat down

There was a typo on the homework sheet I gave out this afternoon. I spotted it far too late and they’ve gone home. I’ll expect to be hailed as an example of why home schooling is the best option before the end of the weekend

Had to give a presentation to parents today about curriculum and things. I wasn’t booed, heckled or had rotten fruit thrown at me. I put that down as a success

As a gay kid growing up under Section 28, I didn’t think I’d survive secondary school let alone be a dad, be married, and have my 7th book just published! A message to all the queer youth out there: never give up. You are worthy, brilliant, strong and brave. #PrimaryEduSky #KidLit #EduSky

Home from delivering my eldest to York uni. I am absolutely exhausted

Been teaching the digestive system in science. My class have been calling the oesophagus the asparagus’ and I can’t work out if they’re doing it on purpose to wind me up
