There’s been a lot of reporting that the capital bathroom ban is not in Speaker Johnson’s rule package. It’s misleading: it doesn’t need to be in the rule package. The speaker controls the facilities, and he is using that to enact the capital bathroom ban and has since it was first debated.

A lot of people cannot grasp that their own personal and individual experience of the world is not universal, and they are totally comfortable showing immense cruelty to those whose experiences diverge from their own. This applies to so many issues that affect vulnerable people & it's a real shame!

A Navy report shows many shipbuilding programs are years behind schedule, largely due to worker shortages. Warship production is at its lowest level in 25 years. Companies spend millions on recruitment, but “the domestic workforce is just not there.” By @nicolefoy.bsky.social

The censorship algorithm on Twitter reduced our audience by roughly 95%, and seriously, who does that to a wildlife biology & advocacy group ? So we moved 😇 over here to BlueSky If you could, please help us regain our following Follow Retweet and Repeat ;-) Together we can change the world.

I’d recommend everyone regardless of medical risk bring a mask on your airplane journey, a disinfectant wipe to clean the seat you’re in and hand sanitizer. It’s going to be on you alone to protect your health. Warning signs are everywhere.

According to a new report, doctors in abortion ban states described hospital lawyers who: •“Refused to meet” with them for months. •Were hard to reach during “life or death” situations. •Offered little help beyond “regurgitating” the law.

1. Ahead of 2025, nearly 120 anti-trans bills have been filed across the United States, far surpassing the 80 bills filed by this time in 2023. The bills target the ability of trans people to move, live, and exist freely as themselves in public. Subscribe to support my journalism. Lets dig in.

"Questions From A Worker Who Reads" by Bertolt Brecht:

Trumpy poo poo pants does not like it when people say Elon Musk is the actual incoming president. He doesn’t like it one fucking bit. In fact, he’s really, really, REALLY mad about it. So, whatever you do — don’t tell everyone you know to say Elon is the one calling the shots. Don’t tell a soul. 😈

At least it’s not just kids cancer research Republicans are trying to cut. It’s also $215T worth of cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, veterans benefits & nutritional assistance. All while adding $5T more to our debt so billionaires can make more billions. Is America great again yet? Did I miss the memo?

NEW: The same political leaders who enacted abortion bans oversee the state committees that review maternal deaths. These committees haven’t tracked the laws’ impacts, and most haven’t finished examining cases from the year the bans went into effect. propub.li/4fF71QR

“By suggesting trans women inherently pose a threat to the safety of cis women, [Nancy Mace] justifies all acts of violence committed against us, both physical and political.” Powerful op-ed by Jay Saper, a co-organizer of the Capitol Hill bathroom sit-in. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Just a reminder that in 2019, RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine misinformation campaign helped cause a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed 83 people, mostly kids. Do you really want him to lead the Department of Health and Human Services?

A few important things about the Texas lawsuit against a New York abortion provider: 1) Ken Paxton appears to be lying about the patient suffering "serious complications" that "required medical intervention." 2) We need to talk about how Paxton found out about this abortion

Every now and then it's nice to pick your head up from your book, reacquaint yourself with the world, take a hard pass and immediately go right back to reading. Balance is important.

At least the dumbest fucks on the planet don’t think they’re infectious disease experts or anything because that would be bad. Oh wait.

For those that think Paxton's theories of out-of-state jurisdiction are something new and limited to abortion... as is so often the case, we see it used first to target trans people. Paxton tried to prosecute Seattle Children's Hospital last year the same way. I broke the filing doc itself.

With all the negativity in trans news right now, it's important to remember that being trans is also such a joy. Veronica Esposito dives into a paper about that here. www.assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...

A lot of people think everything will work out if we just play by the rules but don’t seem to recognize that rules only matter when everyone agrees to follow them and, well, that isn’t our present reality.
