Actual conversation with my 2 year old, rocking her before nap time today: Bb: *Sits up suddenly* “I need a candy cane!” Me: “You just had lunch, let’s wait until after nap.” Bb: “Okay. I have one after nap?” Me: “Yes.” Bb: “But I don’t like candy canes!” 🫠 #candycanes #itsfebruary #toddlers

Yes and… loneliness often leads to fear, further isolation and the urge to trust conspiracies, b/c conspiracies offer us enemies who are easy to blame for our pain. I'm convinced that how capitalism weaponizes emotion is the key to our #medialit unraveling AND to any chance we have for success.

Democratic leadership is pissed…at us?

I’m a librarian, I like my sources to be accurate #TLSky #Skybrarians #EduSky

A winter storm is approaching. Michigan Storm Chasers said to start finishing preparations, whether that is going to the store tonight after work, or to fill up your car tomorrow morning. So, I stopped at the library for the next #fourthwing book because #priorities.

My students are going to lose their minds!

Making valentines with my 2.5 year old. Me: “Who is this one for?” Her: “Mommy.” Me: “And this one?” Her: “For me.” May you always love yourself enough to make yourself a valentine, little one. Wisdom for us all. #outofthemouthofbabes #toddlersofbluesky

#TLSkyChat A8. School librarians are not archivists. Our job is to connect readers w/the very best resources available. If a book that once shined bright is now dulled by language and/or stereotypes that cause harm, it's time for it to go. That's called weeding (not erasure). (reposting w/o typo).

I love to see it.

The HHS protects our lives with programs that depend on scientific research and proven health solutions. RFK Jr. can't be trusted to lead an agency so vital to our health and safety. Make sure your senators hear from you. app.sosha.ai/s/xEg1xL6R

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism. We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

My 2.5 year old, while on the toilet: “Will you deliver me a grape?” May we all have her confidence to ask for what we want. Except for billionaires. They have enough. #outofthemouthofbabes #thingsmytoddlersaid

We are not going to do the fascists’ work for them.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

In a crisis, good people find ways to help each other. In a crisis, bad people look to lay blame and tear down others.
