🚀 AI is changing the way teachers plan and deliver instruction, and Google has a great set of tools! 🖼️ Want to generate custom images to support vocab instruction #EduSky? Try ImageFX. 📚 Need quick book recaps? Illuminate Books can help. 🔗 Check out the post: classtechtips.com/2025/01/15/a...

Knowledge is power…

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement. The wholesale erasure of history in real time.

I dare say that one of the most tedious things of beginning this dissertation process is the lit review. My eyes and brain literally want to cross from all the articles I’ve been reading. But, I’ve got checkpoints and goals to hit, so read I must!!! #doctoralcandidate #phdlife

This this and more this. You don’t like what I’m saying? Unfollow or block me. Trust me, I won’t be hurt.

Wow! Hello all my new followers! Just a fair warning to those thinking of following me - I quickly block p0rnbots and other suspicious accounts. What makes you NOT suspicious? Well, a bio definitely helps, as well as a post or more. Easy peasy! Anyhow, happy cray cray Monday!

The American people have been set up. Create a problem only to be the one to solve it is part of the authoritarian playbook.

Bye bye TikTok. I’m so sad right now. Currently the F app and the I app are in a BANNED folder - I will not feed the machine. If you need me I’ll be reading for my dissertation readings or on the Y app…

BREAKING: TikTok officially shuts down in the US.

Self censorship is real. I don’t blame librarians - it’s a difficult position to be put in. I *cant* have some of those books just in the picture based on MO law (sigh). But to be instructed by a district? Not cool, KISD…

Love this, especially as I’m starting my dissertation readings!!!

I love love love these! ❤️❤️

Snow-magaddeon is on the way. 🌨️❄️🧊🥶 Make sure to stock up on eggs, milk, bread, & these #libraryadvocacy tees, hoodies, stickers, Eracelets, & patches I developed through my company NIMCO, Inc. #Skybrarians #TLSky #EduSky #FutureReadyLibs nimcoinc.com/product-cate...

Winter break reminder 😊 #TLsky #schoollibrary

My library is getting sad looking. All packed away to be moved to the new place! Almost 2 more pallets filled!

Got the email of acceptance for the presentation the professor I’ve been working with and I put together for ALA’s annual conference in June!!! So excited to continue to discuss public libraries value through the community capitals framework!

I am incredibly honored that my book That Librarian is a finalist for the Willie Morris Award for Southern Writing alongside some great other nonfiction books. www.williemorrisawards.org

No cats this evening. Needed to spread out, have no distractions (believe it or not I work better outside my home). One section is almost written of my paper… tons to go before Saturday…

Research helper. Someone’s gotta keep me on track during qualifying exam week.

That is AWFUL. Not ok. 10/10 do not agree.

Fourteen books have already been banned in Utah’s K-12 schools. Another 25 are on the shortlist. The bulk of the reports to the Utah State Board of Education come from just two school districts. www.kuer.org/education/20...

The call for proposals is open for #AASL25! Share your passion for our profession with your fellow school librarians. Submit your proposal here: national.aasl.org Deadline is March 1, 2025

Going on my TBR (if I ever get around it it, of course… lol)

@slupodcast.bsky.social doing her thing at #sljsummit24

Hey, that’s me! 🤣🤣❤️❤️

Loved hanging out with two of my favorite TX librarians @thenextgenlib.bsky.social and @zbrarian.bsky.social at #sljsummit24 !!! ❤️❤️

I'm sure I'll say this many more times: Wherever possible, change your written & spoken language from "age appropriate" to "developmentally relevant". #TLSky #SchoolLibrarians #SchoolLibrary 1/

Great convo w/ Prof. Gay Ivey & others, @technolibrary.bsky.social suggested a strong protective strategy would be to have student & parent book clubs, parents reading alongside Ss so they can step up at board meetings to explain why the books matter for Ss. #SchoolLibrarians #TLSky

"People mako g these arguments [to ban books] I think are looking g at these books from an adult perspective, not a kid's perspective. Kids see the story differently." - Prof. Gay Ivey

Thank you thank you thank you @elissamalespina.bsky.social and @tburleson.bsky.social for the amazing AI presentation! I need to do something on this for my teachers in a couple months and this is EXACTLY the info I needed to see!!! ❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰 #sljsummit24

Great session at @slj.com summit over AI by @elissamalespina.bsky.social & @tburleson.bsky.social lots of great resources! #skybrarian #schoollibrarian #librarian #ai

Appreciate Michal Threets discussing mental health in the library. “You can’t help the kids and the library if you can’t help yourself.” As another one of those suffering from depression and anxiety & have been for so so so long, it’s such an important thing to discuss. #sjlsummit24

Everyone belongs. “There are unhoused people, mentally ill people, library kids, library teens, grandparents, autistic people, neurodivergent people who all use a library, and it belongs to all of them.” - Mychal Threets #ReasonstoLoveLibraries #SLJSummit bit.ly/3RGM52r

There seem to be a number of Americans who don’t know what to do if they find a book they don’t like at the library. For them, we wrote this handy step-by-step guide. action.everylibrary.org/what_do_i_do...

Two Utah school districts are dictating what students can read to a whole state @letutahread.bsky.social www.kuer.org/education/20...

“Collaboration is an ongoing process. Creating and nurturing strong relationships with administrators benefits everyone in your learning community.” The relationship btwn a school librarian & an administrator is the key to making this happen! #aaslKQ bit.ly/3O8NwEN
