I was watching The Wolf of Wall Street last night in bed. It’s been years since I’ve seen it. Soaked full with the kind of bombastic humor that delights me to see in movies. The dead-lock glamour of the 80’s saturates, but only up to a point.

Pleased as punch for this wonderful writer, and honored, beyond measure.

Just when you thought I couldn’t overshare… My interview with @librelit.bsky.social is live! We talked about mental health, writing in today’s chaos, and whether screaming into the void counts as a productive hobby (spoiler: it does). I also reveal my overconsumption of daydreaming.

“I think a takeaway might be that there are no heroes or villains—only people moving through pain, survival, and the messy in-between of being human.” Read @chrissystegmanpoet.bsky.social ‘s full interview on the site. www.librelit.com/in-the-ear/c...

The word “submit” has become an active member of my vocabulary. librelit.com/submit

Libre’s facelift and initial recovery are going splendidly. They wanted me to tell you to stop sending flowers and start donating! Stop by when you’ve got the time to check out the new website format. www.librelit.com

Very happy that not one, but two of my CNF pieces have been accepted by the wonderful @librelit.bsky.social 🎉

Our new contributor interview series, In the Ear, is officially here. I had the pleasure of speaking with @salenacasha.bsky.social about mental health, doom scrolling, visualization, and writing revisions. Read the interview, here: www.librelit.com/in-the-ear/s...

We’re playing catch-up with submissions this week. Empty Submittable queues are haunted, liminal spaces. I3 subs are open through April, along with rolling. Just a gentle reminder that all I3 contributors are paid $30. Incentives and creativity go hand-in-hand. libre.submittable.com/submit/31898...

Lucky for the follows recently, and just wanted to say a brief hello in a couple of paragraphs, in case you’re wondering what we’re about and what’s with all the brain imagery.

Past & present Libre contributors: I have an idea I should’ve engaged months ago, but am only now approaching. It’s simple enough and I’ll begin with a question:

Our Issue Two: Plath print edition is ready for free download, if you’re so willing. www.librelit.com/store/p/issu...

Write to us about phenomena of the mind, and steep her in scene and symbol. Tell us about the time your brain went sideways. We’re here to prove the existence of ourselves. www.librelit.com/submit

There’s meaning in media that applies to mental health now more than ever before. Consider submitting to our themed issue before springtime. There’s empathy in the lens, too, just adjust the lighting so—look deep and true.

“Sometimes the clay is smashed / so that with careful hands / it can become / a sculpture of hope.” Vivid, finely-wrought poetry by David Icenogle on the site today. www.librelit.com/themagazine/...

Mental health on film. Sifting through narratives for the unanswerable static of the mind. What has film gotten right? We’ve got a list of what it’s gotten wrong.

Hallucination #1 in A Beautiful Mind wears tweed during his alcohol and sex fueled binges and looks great with a wet head full of moppy, yellow hair. He does the most work in every scene he’s included in because he’s the alchemical equivalent of disease…
