Ever heard of Suster Bertken? This BBC Radio 3 “Sunday Feature” dedicated to this remarkable medieval woman will be out on March 9. I got to talk a little bit about my night in another anchoress’ cell in the Utrecht Jacobikerk 🤩 www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

this great monster, to whom corporeal warmth is as indispensable as it is to man

New publication! The exhibition “Between Heaven and War: Art and Religion in the Interbellum” is accompanied by a beautiful book (in Dutch), for which I got to write two chapters.

Yesterday a beautiful and hauntingly topical exhibition opened: “Between Heaven and War: Art and Religion in the Interbellum” at Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht. It was amazing to see what began as my pitch over two years ago turned into this impressive exhibition!

Saw “Andy Warhol: Vanitas” at Schunck Glaspaleis in Heerlen today. Two of the works I liked best.

terug op het honk ❤️ Stedelijk Museum Schiedam.

on Amsterdam Avenue stands the impressive cathedral of St John the Divine. with a.o. a Keith Haring triptych, a hugely overwhelming nave and an icon for victims of gun violence. #NYC

a couple of years ago I stumbled upon this gem in the museum depot. today I got to record an audiostop about this work and its painter, Mariette Lydis. all part of an upcoming exhibit on art and religion in the interbellum, in the Catharijneconvent. #lookingforward
