Many beautiful photos of my child which I am not comfortable sharing publicly because the world is full of vicious freaks and anyone can see this stuff. That said, whew, she is adorable.

i am not asking you to believe in this future because it exists. i am asking you to believe in it so that it does.

May not look like much it's enough for me

Totally crazy that they just let me have a tiny new human.

I think about this map a lot. www.bloomberg.com/graphics/201...

Amazing video of an amazing event

Banner day: breakfast sandwiches at Red Arrow, Willa napping on her lamb skin, a long stroll along Alki and a visit to Constellation Park.

"Come out and live with a religious community in a beautiful place out in the country."

They're putting new H-Mart in my favorite Ballard skate spot (an abandoned grocery store). Good development because the entire area is a disused wasteland at the moment, but also a bummer because it's a perfect skatespot.

Succinct and sufficient summary:

Boring, essential work to get and keep power that wasn't beholden to anyone else: Caro spends two long and very detailed chapters near the end of the book explaining how LBJ helped FDR thwart Garner (his competitor for a 3rd term) - and how he mastered the accumulation and distribution of donations.

Want to go to Tempe once the baby is vaccinated, but having anxiety over her crib and general first-time baby travel stress. Tell me I need sun and bikes and skating and the desert.

made me laugh today: I looked up this address, and the street view photo is of a dang port-a-potty parked in front of the house on a trailer

this is the construction site I found it near

Found some mail from 1943 in a Port-a-potty in Ballard today

early signs of spring in Ballard

Not at Slow Impact, but I did hang out with 7 sleep-deprived couples and we put all 7 babies onto a big blanket and took a picture of them together tonight - mine got (gently) kicked on her head

Great vibes here

It’s skater snowbird season, and I’ve got Ryan Lay talking about what makes a good skate trip for the latest Rules of Skateboarding. Art by Michael Worful. See you at Slow Impact? villagepsychic.net/blog/the-rules…

Willy Staley at Slow Impact is probably a bigger deal to me than Kenny Reed or The Boss.

You should, if you have the time, watch the bizarre and uncomfortable "Traumazone" series that Adam Curtis assembled in 2022 from BBC footage of the collapse of Soviet Russia - it feels like a sneak preview.

Seattle has written our comp plan such that future residents choice is between tiny apts w/1 window in 50+unit blocks or townhomes. The idea of airy livable flats in small multiplexes is so irrationally toxic to ‘neighborhood defenders’ we’re willing to sacrifice everything to keep useless sideyards

interesting to see how space is and isn't used...

Seems like Sarah Kendzior was right about pretty much everything.

Call me Defense Secretary the way I'm splurging on this bourbon

Nursing a take that the major Silicon Valley firms can be understood as organized crime syndicates and perform some of the same functions as the old ones used to — money laundering, feeding addictions, skirting regulations, political influence.
