Received a call from a friend in Germany yesterday and a text from one in Florida checking in on us. Helmut used a long German word that I think is equivalent to “dumpster fire” but with swearing. We should look into that. And it’s scary when even Floridians are worried for you. #FedSpouseLife

After American airspace was closed on 9/11, over 230 flights with 30,000 passengers and crew were diverted to Canadian airports. Transport Canada received thousands of calls from members of the public offering to help the stranded passengers. Thinking about that today, for no particular reason.

I talked my mom into buying me these Bean boots in the late 70s when I headed off to college in Wisconsin. She had a fit about the price, but I said, “Don’t worry, they will last forever.” Almost 50 years later, they are wearing a bit thin but still serving me well, just like I promised Mom.
