Wishing I could see this show.

What is the antidote? How do we cultivate caring and community? I wish I was teaching this term because I usually find the classroom to be a place for that.

The assumption that people who have no relationship to an experience are unbiased and those who do have a relationship are biased is a stupid prejudice. Often direct experience dispels established assumptions about rape, prison, etc..... Wrote about that a few years ago.

Some good news. Hopefully some anesthesiologists will want to come to Ontario as well.

I feel like I need to see pictures of plants these days. Many pictures of plants. And flowers.

#ArtHistory 🗃️ During my walk in a tree-lined neighborhood in central Lisbon, I found a "museum" dedicated to Banksy reproductions. This bit of graffiti feels particularly relevant at this moment. I’m pretty sure it first appeared in Paris, probably around 2018. If you know more, I’d love to hear!

Re Zuckerberg’s new look: “This isn’t taking risks with fashion, like Rick Owens or Vivienne Westwood. It’s just ugly and stupid.” Not sure I agree with the term “postmodern conservatism,” but there is a lot of ugly and stupid in contemporary right wing visual culture.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who uses pets to connect with students and create an engaging class environment. It is amazing how pets unite us!

Keith Haring died of AIDS aged 31 on 16 Feb 1990. One of his last works, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS. #LGBTplusHistoryMonth

How did I not read Octavia Butler til now?

Want to see more of this. It’s not too late before it is too late. Feb. 27. #onpoli

Interesting thread.

Thoroughly enjoying @cjdenial.bsky.social ‘s fabulous book A Pedagogy of Kindness for @brocku.ca Centre for Pedagogical Innovation’s reading group. The chapter on kindness for the self is helpful as I return to work & figure out how to navigate teaching as a disabled person. #pedagogy #disability

When your cats fight over a reusable bag…a photo story.

Hmmmmmm….

I was hoping for one last film. RIP David Lynch. 😭

No. The answer is accidental reply-all.

On deck for reading. #compassion #meditation #buddhism

If you are looking for short thematic pieces on historical and contemporary art that are suitable for intro #arthistory courses, check out my #oer podcast: unboxingthecanon.podbean.com

A great OER for teaching first-year #arthistory

Disabled people are almost never included in any kind of plans.

Happy #caturday!

This week’s reading. So far it’s pretty interesting. Frankie is curious, so that’s a good sign.

“In its active form, hope is a supreme gesture of love, a radical and audacious duty, whereas despair is a stagnant rejection of life itself. Hope becomes the energy of change.” - Nick Cave, Red Hand Files, #308, January, 2025.
