Much of what’s happening in the US right now (the firings, the stance on Ukraine, the funding attacks & the public’s 🤷‍♀️ to it all) doesn’t surprise me—it was all mentioned to some degree—but I am surprised by just how eagerly corporate America is falling in line; like this isn’t even slightly subtle

There’s about to be a ton of flooded basements in Toronto

Damn, this last episode of The Pitt was a 💔. Also, I adore Taylor Dearden & her character. Perfect casting!

Haven’t even been back in the country for 24 hours and I already feel like an itchy lizard. Why is there no moisture in the air here? Why is it all trapped outside in ice and snow?

Why doesn’t Doug want to join the Mollusk of the Month Photo Club?

I can see this happening, plus expanded to some of the other drugs previously mentioned by RFK. Of course if you’re wealthy there will still be access; maybe pay big 💰 to access a small list of docs who can legally prescribe/give/write you a note to excuse you from the “health” farm

Are you unhappy with Doug Ford but not voting? You’re helping him win. Opposition parties need to stop splitting the anti-Ford vote. Every vote counts. Every vote cast against Ford makes it harder for him to win. #OnPoli

In happier news, Justice is coming not just to Toronto but to an outdoor venue in June!!! (I hope that good food truck is there again this season.)

More happy than ever that we managed to squeeze in this tropical beach vacation; I genuinely fear this might become an impossible (or at least unrecommended) journey in the near-ish future.

I know 🇨🇦 health care/universities are strapped for💰 but guys, c’mon, if we have billions for an oil pipeline & (in Ontario) a highway we don’t need, can’t we figure out how to fund bringing these employees here & recreating this service? I know it’s complicated but I think we can figure this out

Drive to Pearson this morning during the storm: A reasonable 40 minutes (it takes us longer during rush hour on a perfect weather day). The security line: 2!!! fucking hours. Some flights were already cancelled so there should have been fewer flyers & yet this was the longest I’d ever seen it.

🤷‍♀️

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen. Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !” globalnews.ca/news/9793403...

Again, I ask, how is this reality?

Ppl around me: “It’s like everyone’s brains are rotting.” Me: “So there are multiple peer-reviewed papers that kinda agree w/ u. It turns out that Cov-” Ppl: “No. It’s not that; it’s the screens.” Me: 😒 🎉New paper alert🎉: www.news-medical.net/news/2025020...

Great album (ok, EP) for cardio time: open.spotify.com/album/1L374H...

We went from “We’re all in this together” to “Fuck everyone’s health, get back to ⬆️ shareholder value & dining indoors*, you were always sick half the year.” I wonder why the kids have issues. *with some investments, we could have dined more safely indoors but we went, nah… let’s get sick instead

Why isn’t #BelowDeckDownUnder airing on 🇨🇦 Bravo? I can see the 🇺🇸 watching it; there’s a sous-chef this season!

So should I spend my Friday night downloading my favourite PubMed papers?

I hope the impeding bird flu explosion holds off until after this (and the following night’s Oasis concert).

This fear briefly crossed my mind yesterday & told myself I was being ridiculous but maybe no? Fuck… Losing PubMed would be a nightmare on top of so many other nightmares. 😥

🎉Hey #Toronto 🎉 want to reduce absences, cancellations & healthcare costs? And want to improve productivity & your own health? Then sign this letter & let City Hall know!

I joined the HOCL club today! Was pretty easy to do (fun fact: the ph level of my Toronto tap water was 7-8). Gonna have the cleanest countertops around.

Just imagine if Ontario was led by people who were more interested in improving the lives of voters & less fixated on alcohol and cars. We could be making moves… instead we’re going to have an unnecessary election…

Wait, is this how they’re going to deal w/ the shortage of agricultural workers? Force drug users to “get better” by working on farms?

Since yesterday was David Lynch’s bday, I thought I’d share how he accidentally intro’ed me to Radiohead. It was the summer of ‘97; I was 13 & my fav band was NIN. When I spotted the Lost Highway soundtrack at my local library, an album produced by Trent Reznor, I immediately checked it out. (1/?)

Today’s album selection

Noro has hit the kiddie class though not yet my home. I’ve never had it before though I’ve been exposed in the past. Is my time up? We’ll see. (I have no plans for the next week.)

It’s January Spotify, why do you keep throwing Christmas songs into my playlists? You’d think the algorithm®️ could take the time of year into account.

Stares in jealousy from Toronto.

Fuck.

Event I was at let out to snow! Sadly, it was that pesky amnesia snow that makes everyone instantly forgets how to walk or drive. How I love doing 12 km/h up the DVP. 🙁

Ooff… This thread asks some good questions. And what is Public Health doing to reduce the need for antibiotics in the first place? Any education happening to the public about, oh, improving indoor air quality or wearing masks, esp when sick so u don’t create more sick ppl who may need antibiotics?

Hmmm… we could do with a few of those up here in 🇨🇦

From New York to LA, huge fires have torched both the East and West coasts in the middle of winter. Climate change is making these extreme events more frequent and devastating. We cannot afford to keep dragging our feet on climate action.
