On the macOS you can have the whole interface zoom in and follow your mouse. It’s great for accessibility but I also use this all the time when I am doing software demos.

On an iOS device, you can send a text (PDF, doc, epub, etc) to the Kindle app, enable Speak Screen, and your device will read the text to you. If you use the enhanced voice option, it’s a very good mimic of an actual person.

Pressing and holding any button on a Mac keyboard to activate dictation! Sometimes I just flat out need it read to me because it ain't processing.

Word has a dictation function that i use a phenomenal amount. Windows Key+h (depending on your device and version) opens voice typing. Which makes it pretty easy to get your thoughts on paper without actually typing anything.

Please add proper captions to your YouTube videos. It helps not just Deaf/HOH viewers, but people like me who can hear just fine but whose brains don't always process speech correctly. The automatic ones are not usable unless you want background noise rendered as "[applause]."

This is for mental health accessibility specifically but: Few things ever did right by me and mine quite like having a set of reasonable-to-maintain rules of engagement in a healthy relationship between 2 adults with severe PTSD. It's the most useful life skill I've ever been lucky enough to share.

I recently listened to Decolonization Is Not A Metaphor with the (quite decent) text to speech app ElevenReader. I find that people take reading for granted. I find it takes a significant level of privilege to be able to read continuously, and it is negatively affected by trauma. Listening helps.

Even when I was homeless I scrounged up enough to get transitions lenses. I'm extremely photosensitive and not having to carry around a pair of sunglasses when I go outside has saved numerous migraines. The only thing comparable to the pain I've avoided is my cane.

My husband just reminded me as I was squinting to read the model number on my laptop that if the readers aren't cutting it, you can take a pic on your phone and zoom in/adjust the contrast/have Google lens try to read it

From an educator's POV, anything that does a reasonably good job transcribing talk to text is a fantastic tool that not enough students use because they think typing = writing instead of writing = organized thinking. More people should use it in more situations.
