Honestly making a game's AI smart is less about actually having it be smart, and more about making it look smart, level design and AI design are two things that should walk together, since good level design will take into account your AIs weaknesses and strengths and play into them.

I been invited to a friend's place and one kid was doing AI on their tablet. Told them that it's bad and the father asked me why. Explained and also said real art have more soul. He wanted to make a dinosaur playing basket-ball, I drew this for him. They loved it so much, the dad paid me in the end
