This to me (UK, cradle Catholic, queer) is part of why the US influence in how Catholicism has been talked about & has moved, is so weird. The faith of my childhood and formative years was very "okay, you're confirmed as This, now Act as This, the action is the key". 'This' was grace and kindness.

My mother's advice was: nail clippers (just think how uncomfortable and dangerous it would be if you couldn't clip your toenails), Sudocrem (a lot goes a very long way and it cures basically everything) and a tub of salt (you need salt! especially if you are sweating a lot!).

Very obvious (to me, and possibly you), but: being a boy isn't intrinsically bad - there is no male "essence" that is harmful. There are millions of different ways to be a boy or a man. This is in great part why we must fight the gender essentialism of transphobes and rethink gender.
