I like it here but there are some accounts that act as left-wing hysteria mongers in a way that reminds me of how big right wing influencers on x whip up their bases remember: a good journalist will make it clear how they source claims (no, there are not only 3 staffers at yosemite right now)

(1/4) Recent layoffs of federal workers has a disproportionate impact on Native Americans, but is receiving almost no media attention. In Indian Health Services, which provides healthcare to 2.8 mil NAs, 2,200 people were laid off, including 1,400 who provide direct patient care.

If you're a federal worker in Arizona who has been laid off (or taken the deferred resignation) or are a job applicant affected by the federal hiring freeze, I would love to talk with you. I can be reached at [email protected] or on Signal at litabeck.16

The CFPB isn’t funded by taxpayer money (it went all the way to SCOTUS!), so taxpayers wouldn’t even get that.

epic use of viscious mockery by a level 20 eloquence bard

NEW: Want to know how Kendrick Lamar's incredible Super Bowl halftime show came together? I got the scoop for you. www.wired.com/story/true-s...

UPDATE: Judge Coughenour issued his opinion in support of his preliminary injunction blocking Trump's EO to end birthright citizenship in the Washington state-led case, and DOJ has already filed its notice of appeal to the Ninth Circuit: www.lawdork.com/i/156146656/...

All green on the board? An AZ bill that addresses the order of candidates on ballot just passed the House unanimously. Starting in '27, the 1st candidate listed would rotate by party. Right now, the 1st candidate listed is from the party the county voted for in last gov race.

As someone who has reported on AI for 7 years and covered China tech as well, I think the biggest lesson to be drawn from DeepSeek is the huge cracks it illustrates with the current dominant paradigm of AI development. A long thread. 1/

I've been saying for a long time that I thought the AI crash was coming in 2025, but who knew it would be this

Buffalo, you had one job

This is absolute freaking madness

To be clear: The DOJ did not make this argument. They argued that children born in the U.S. whose parents aren’t citizens should not have citizenship similar to how Native Americans in the 1800s did not.

Hi friends, if you're a journalist who has been reporting on the LA fires the International Women's Media Foundation is offering a virtual support group session next week and one/time grants up to $1500 if you need funding for gear. iwmf.org for more and if you need more details message me

And hockey fans CANNOT WAIT

Absolutely begging whoever wrote this incredibly misleading article to learn about the Indian Citizenship Act, which was passed specifically to address what the DOJ argues in this filing. The DOJ filing is NOT “questioning” Indigenous people’s citizenship. www.yahoo.com/news/excludi...

BREAKING: A federal judge has blocked President Donald Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship. Arizona and three other states brought the case. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has said Trump’s order was “just flatly unconstitutional.”

Google is now basically saying publishers can never try to venture out into new topical areas unless they invest heavily in staffing and resources. Resources that publishers don’t have, because Google has made it extremely hard to make money from publishing.

I talked with a Dreamer today about Trump’s inauguration and executive orders on immigration. He’s been in Arizona for 30 years and tells me his parents came to the U.S for a better life for their children. “We just have to do the best that we can with our circumstances.” youtu.be/pOYMrICqxf0?...

Really good summary of wtf is going on with TikTok 👇🏼

Best explanation I’ve seen: Apps like TikTok and Red Note are made to facilitate shopping, so they’re built to show you what you love. American apps aren’t personalized like that because they’re built so the company can aggregate and sell your data to others.

TikTok's backend providers, namely Oracle, are providing service again after Trump promised to not enforce penalties from the ban The app stores, however, are not showing TikTok still Larry Ellison fine taking risk here

Existing users may get it back, but curious about Apple and Google

If this is true than Biden actually handed Trump a true nightmare - he can’t just decline to enforce the law and get TikTok back if these companies won’t accept the risk. He’ll need a new bill (which will be very hard) or China to allow a sale, which means immediately caving on tariffs. Fun!

I loved a lot of things about TikTok. As a nerd, it was such a fun platform — it learned I wanted niche things like silly skits about the Batfamily, the MCU and D&D and ‘90s Eurodance playlists. Compare to my FB feed, which is a bunch of crap I don’t follow instead of posts from my friends or groups

TikTok, Lemon8 and CapCut have all stopped working in the U.S.
