I just finished a coffee and a whole book (with a concussion) LETS GOOO!! Writing “End” is one of the best feelings.

Seattle!!! Aug 14! You can now get tickets for Writers With Drinks featuring Cecilia Tan, Darcie Little Badger, Becky Chambers, Annalee Newitz, and me! townhallseattle.org/event/writer... You can buy a copy of Lessons in Magic and Disaster a few days early! Plus all the other authors' books!

Yall I was rear-ended at a red light and can’t go to powerlifting because my car is totaled and now I have to see a doctor 😭

I’ve been working on upper body strength 🦡🦡🦡

Squatting 204 lbs/92.5 kg for the first time let’s goooooooo. I had to push myself, but it wasn’t that bad. Gonna work a bit more before I try a new PR tho. I want to squat 100 kg it’s my goal.

We showed up today✌️

Because the Lipan do not have a reservation (since my ancestors refused to leave our homeland in TX during the Federal Indian removal years), my grandmother had to worry about being separated from her family and deported to a country that wasn’t her home.

Book banning is gross

On ye olde papers, several of my Lipan ancestors were documented as “la raza indígena.”

My mom sent me this picture - she made me a special steampunk Lipan camp dress for WorldCon!! 🥹💕Sheine Lende is a Lodestar finalist <333

Protect the sacred. To me, this includes community.

Lifting 226 lbs! A new little PR. I gotta climb these newbie gains.

My Newbery-honor book, A Snake Falls to Earth, has been challenged…but not because of its contents. From the link below: “Despite the book’s lack of sexual content, violence, or vulgar language, it became a target due to the author, Darcie Little Badger, identifying as asexual.” Bruh. What a world.

Sometimes the last rep is like *struuuuggle*

Reminder that my Indigenous (Lipan Apache) grandmother was not considered a citizen until later in life. If we hadn’t found her baptismal record, we’d have no evidence of her birth in Texas.
