Thank you!
Yeah, it's a neat theory for sure.
It makes sense the hands would belong to a condemned religious figure 👍

Alternatively, Midra may have stitched his wounds to endure suffering, heeding Nanaya's plea.
Thanks for reading :)

Midra’s stitches, like those on the Poisoned and Madding Hand items, may be a form of torture.
The Sword of Damnation, internally called a “Rune Needle,” may have been used by the Hornsent for stitching Midra.
Credit: Sekiro Dubi discovered the "Rune Needle" file name.

Descriptions of the items suggest the Poisoned Hand was crafted by the Hornsent and the Madding Hand by those of Midra's flock.
Like Midra's punishment, these stitching practices are violent and intentional: an act rooted in revenge.

The "Poisoned Hand" and "Madding Hand" are also embroidered with stitches.
The "Poisoned Hand" is located in the Inquisitor's Tower, and the "Madding Hand" is found in the Abyssal Woods.
These are important locations because they are the homes of the Inquisitors and Midra.

Nanaya, who is named after the Mesopotamian goddess of love, is a morally ambiguous character.
Her material culture connects her to the healing practices of Perfumers and Deathbed Companions, and her item lore depicts her as compassionate.
Thanks for reading - Little Church.

Nanaya pleads with Midra to "endure" his persecution by the Inquisition. When the Golden Crux (Needle) is removed, Midra transforms into the Lord of Frenzy.
Was Nanaya complicit in his suffering, or was her plea a desperate attempt to keep her husband from plunging the world into chaos?

Paintings depict a flourishing, peaceful environment. As the lady of the Manse, Nanaya surely played a key role in nurturing this well-being.
One painting uniquely portrays her as pregnant—a trait she shares with Fia, the Deathbed Companion—reinforcing her connection to healers.

An expansive curtain is hung across Nanaya’s space.
Much like a divider, it delineates the area to provide both privacy and a dignified atmosphere for those in palliative care.

Nanaya’s Torch says she gently cradled a man who failed to become the Lord of Frenzy.
She is portrayed as affectionate and loving, providing a potential antidote to the affliction of madness this deceased man endured.

The presence of Perfumer and Deathbed Companion artifacts—such as incense burners, dividers, and medical bottles—within Nanaya’s space suggests that she, too, serves a healing role.

For example, incense burners, dividers, and medical bottles fill the Shadowkeep hospice, where Perfumers tend to dying Shaman's bedsides.
Fia the Deathbed Companion uses these items as well.

Nanaya’s space contains objects commonly associated with healers, including incense burners, dividers, and medical bottles.
These items appear in locations tied to Perfumers and Deathbed Companions, who provide care and alleviate the suffering of the dying (Et al. Perfumer Tricia’s Ashes).
