My fiancée and I went down to the NYC city clerk’s office this morning to obtain our marriage license. There were far, far more same-sex couples there than one would expect, like maybe 30% of couples there were gay. All of us hear the ticking clock.

This Friday I’ll be at the CUNY Grad Center discussing Revolting Indolence with @billeo.bsky.social NYC folks, come out!

Cover reveal! Our newest book, FRONTIER, by Erica Stern, is both a memoir and a Wild West ghost story. Read more about it and pre-order here www.barrelhousemag.com/books/fronti...

This is a big deal not just because no passport = no international travel. For example, if your passport is expired and/or currently stuck at the State Department because of this nonsense, proving U.S. employment eligibility becomes more complicated.

Fellas, is it gay to get a rejection from a literary mag???

I need him to die ☝🏼

Fall in love with #shortstory collections by @livesinpages.bsky.social, @josephholt.bsky.social, & @aabalaskovits.bsky.social this upcoming #ValentinesDay! https://buff.ly/3EwBJ1z

Had a dream that Jake Gyllenhaal and I were queening out while waiting for a ferry. In the dream world he was an out bisexual and we talked about how freeing it was for him to do Brokeback Mountain lmao

Any time I post about my book, please just assume the "it's a crazy time to be alive, I know a lot of shit is going down, everyone has more important things on their mind" caveat is there but unspoken, I respect you all enough to know you understand this implicitly

don’t wanna get into it but the trans kids thing is very personal to me. if any of my NYC area followers (esp cis ones) aren’t doing anything in about an hour — please go show your support as NYU complies in advance with Trump’s illegal and senseless and sadistic EO

TurboTax texting me but I've already cheated on hin with FreeTaxUSA for the second year in a row 💅🏼

My employer is doing a company status update at the end of February and I feel emboldened to ask how they will be adjusting our yearly raises in April to account for all these many many tariffs ☺️

Call me a baby or whatever but I never wanted the bad things he promised he'd do to actually happen to teach his base some kinda lesson as if they're untrained puppies who took a shit in the carpet so their noses must be rubbed in it. EYE have to live my stupid little life in this country, too!

Considerably small compared to everything going on at the moment but I simply cannot drown in this swamp of fascism watching one more person tweet "Let that sink in." I refuse. Stop it.

I know Cynthia and Ariana are locking finger nails over the Emilia Pérez implosion.

And the thing is, I've only cried once today!

had a spectacular book launch for Revolting Indolence with the inimitable @livesinpages.bsky.social. And sold out of all the copies by the end of the evening! ✨🪩

Filled out my 2024 end of year review at work today as if any of it matters lol

genocide as a precursor to empire collapse

Couldn't be more excited for today's Short Story, Long story!! An absolute fave new story from @peter-witte.bsky.social, with some of my fave art I've gotten to showcase yet, from @jiksuncheung.bsky.social.

Almost 2 hours TikTok free

I’d actually get behind a goodreads ban

Maybe I'll be a writer again now that TikTok's done

Closes tonight

“Dead is the opposite of gone, Deirdre realizes. Dead is everywhere. And now Mom is too.” Whoosh. This wild story by @kcmeadbrewer.com in @barrelhouse.bsky.social gobbled me up like a tornado. It’s uncanny and nightmarish—reminiscent of David Lynch’s surrealist reimaginings of The Wizard of Oz.

If I were a priest my communion wafers would be Cheez-Its

We thought this was actually a great idea, so we're opening for submissions for a special online issue right now (open for 72 hours or 350 subs, whichever comes first) barrelhouse.submittable.com/submit/31828...

Gary Indiana's library burning immediately after arriving in Los Angeles is like something from a Gary Indiana novel.

Got some great news today: CITY OF DANCING GARGOYLES is a nominee for the Philip K. Dick Award alongside books by Bora Chung @brendapeynado.bsky.social Sofia Samatar @aptshadow.bsky.social & Subodhana Wijeyeratne @sfwp.bsky.social www.philipkdickaward.org

Really loving Alex Espinoza's The Sons of El Rey! Feels so good to tuck into a novel this epic and gay.

It’s been long enough since @livesinpages.bsky.social and I have hawked Camanchaca by Diego Zúñiga, but I’m pretty sure we’ve forced it into enough people’s hands by now, it can’t be a secret anymore.

First Home Alone viewing of the season.

Watching a movie at your parents house is a 4D experience: dogs hopping all over you, parents yelling over the movie, temperature cranked to hell.

Excited to be included in Poets & Writers' Jan/Feb 2025 INSPIRATION with a little reflection on volcanoes and what we can take from them and apply to writing.

I'M NOT HUNGRY BUT I COULD EAT by @livesinpages.bsky.social will make a great gift for that person in your life who's a foodie, and also loves to read #shortstories! https://buff.ly/3D2LSCi Check out the full Seattle Book Review here! https://buff.ly/41s11XQ

He's so hot it's hurting their feelings 😔

The warning about "decivilization" didn't come after any one of a number of school shootings. It didn't come after January 6. It was after a health insurance company CEO's shooting wasn't received with national mourning: www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
