@theelrr.bsky.social oh hai friends 👋

Deep thanks to @desibility.bsky.social for working with me on this essay. I'm so happy to be given a space to talk about what the past 6 months have looked like me, from a long time in the hospital, losing my ability to walk, and now - although mostly trapped - home.

An overview of my latest research published by the Centre for Future Work, setting our what the Commonwealth is doing to ensure workers safety due to climate change — especially extreme heat and heatwaves.

New pod ep alert! I joined @withsobersenses.bsky.social and @jonpiccini.bsky.social for a discussion about the Albanese Government, the ACTU and their placing of the CFMEU under administration. thewordfromstrugglestreet.wordpress.com/2025/02/03/l...

I just found out that the awesome @bluntshovels.bsky.social was named today as co-chair (with Dougie Herd) of the newly formed NDIS Reform Advisory Committee, by Minister Bill Shorten. I’m thrilled for her, and that such a strong advocate for (us) disabled people was appointed

Today I went to a pub and socialised with @nondescriptive.bsky.social @bspiesbutcher.bsky.social @markriboldi.bsky.social and another friend for SIX hours and it is like someone has turned us all into extroverts. Who even are we anymore?!

What if I also regret making grand plans about updating my two subjects this semester?!?

But what if I don’t want to be back at work?

Just made my Dad belly laugh by telling him my and other unis have changed the name of HR departments to the ‘People Unit’. God I’m my father’s daughter 😆

Research published by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, or START, at the University of Maryland, finds that the strongest predictor of carrying out extremist violence inside the country is serving in the US military. theintercept.com/2025/01/02/m...

My little kitty is really sick and has been back and forth to the emergency vet. Just so you know, injecting a cat with a fever with 50ml of fluid and keeping the equipment sterile and the poor kitty immobile is SO MUCH HARDER THAN IT LOOKED when the vet did it on the toy cat to show me.
