Poetry Foundation's poem of the day, by Jackie Sabbagh: 🔥 www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazi...

Baby is undeterred by her cone, exploring the house and trying to work it out with Stella. University Kid came home for the long weekend and they are roomies and best buds. Baby has been named Ramona.

Someone’s groceries were misdelivered to me last night; when I discovered them I called and they contacted DoorDash to pick them up. But of course they are still here today. So now I have to dispose of them because I am no one’s customer and no one has an incentive to fix it.

"I enjoyed reading this" is really the highest praise I give students on their papers. Those are papers in which a human is communicating to another human about ideas they really care about. They may not be "perfect," but they are doing the most important thing.

Some of these headlines about Pope Francis really reveal how much the US media has deferred to a certain type of Christian to define what Christian doctrine/tradition is.

Easter Vigil Saturday night (my favorite service) means pancakes Sunday morning! Lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry syrup. A happy Easter to anyone celebrating!

I have made this, and it is delicious! (Generally I like to do something lemony for Easter, though).

Dead on take:

Watching an old CSI where they break someone's alibi because "they said they were home all day but here's a slip saying someone tried to deliver a package and no one was home." LOL. We've all gotten those despite being home awaiting the package.

You got me spayed and put this cone on me but I still looooove you (she is purring wildly). I have never met such a forgiving cat.

Prompted by a chat with my English-major offspring, I am curious about how many English profs still do passage IDs on exams. I don't anymore, just passage analysis, because I care that you can connect this quote to big picture vs. knowing it came from X poem. BUT I also teach mostly 1st year.

Last Friday I was telling myself that this isn't a sensible time to adopt another cat, and that was 100% true (sorry about missing so much Holy Week church and not getting grading done!) but also being sensible is not always the best thing to be.

Today the kitten is discovering the joys of a) kitchen counters and b) stealing Stella’s food. Why would you want the boring urinary + calm senior diet when you have fun kitten food?! Because it is Someone Else’s, of course.

A womanhood that excludes trans women is a womanhood I want no part of. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Sharing! (With a lot of intervention from me).

Good morning from Thing 2, allowed out of the nursery for some exploration.

Maybe Harvard learned something from the experience of bending to their racist donors and pushing Claudine Gay out. I hope so, but they should have learned it sooner.
