February 2025 Reads I’m doing my February reads roundup early this month as I'm having a short SM break. There are 9 books this month all 4 or 5* reads, so a happy reading month for me.

Book Review 21 Squeaky Clean by @callummcsorley.bsky.social Gritty Scottish/Glasgow noir at its best and I’m delighted to have the sequel, Paperboy, lined up and waiting. 5* from me (I’d give it 10 if I could) #Bookreview #ReadingCommunity #Scottishcrimefiction

Well, my weekend binge watch has been fabulous - #virdee Well done @AADhand for such a brilliant portrayal of #Bradford. Those ariel shots were to die for, the cast was spot on and the pacing fabulous. Bradford you look beautiful Looking forward to Season 2 @bradford2025.co.uk #bradfordcity

2025 Book Review 20 The Dark Hours by @amyjordanbooks.bsky.social Word of advice - Don't read at night!!! 5* from me #Bookreview #ReadingCommunity A fabulous detective novel set in Cork & told over two timelines 30 years apart (1994 and 2024) and featuring a now retired detective Julia Harte ...

Book Review 19 2025 His Truth Her Truth by @noelleholten Well, I wasn't expecting that! Such an emotional, poignant read covering themes of grief, addiction, domestic abuse, deceit & so much more in a twisty & compelling 'he said, she said' story 4.5 stars! #BookReview

Book Review 18 2025 Welcome To Cooper by @TariqAshkanani No wonder this won the McIlvanney prize! 5* read from me! #ReadingCommunity #bookreview So… this is not a comfortable read - not by a long chalk. However, it is really, compelling & will stay with me for a long time.

Book Review 17 2025 The Graveyard Bell by @andrew_james_greig Another well-earned 4 * read from me And so my binge read of this series comes to an end... what to read next? #reading #readingcommunity #books #CrimeFiction #readingforpleasure

Book Review 16 2025 Silent Ritual by @AndrewJamesGre3 4* from me Absolutely loving getting to know this trio of Private Investigators, each with their own distinct backstory and each with their own distinct skills. #Readingcommunity #BookTwitter #Bookreview

Book Review 15 The Girl In The Loch by @AndrewJamesGre3 What a great start to a new PI series. The cast of characters drew me in and I look forward to finding out more about them. 5* from me!

Book Review 14 2025 8 Months Left James Patterson & Mike Lupica A decent read with plenty of action & good to highlight people living with cancer. Lots of adrenalin. I had expected more legal drama than there was and the abrupt ending caught me off guard. Still an enjoyable read!

Cheeky wee drink before I go to the adult panto with Nilesh Mistry St. George's Hall Bradford Theatres with Divina De Campo Kyran Thrax A'whora and Marina Summers. #dragpanto #drag #datenight #livingmybestlife #bradford

What a brilliant atmosphere at #stockportnoir Fabulous panels, engaged audience, lovely to catch up with friends and meet new ones. Such a happy inclusive atmosphere. Thanks to Chris McDonald and Serenity books for organising. Can't wait for next year.

Today I'm heading to Manchester for a cheeky meal and chill with my youngest before heading to Stockport Noir tomorrow. I love my work. I love my crimecwriting and reading buddies and I love crime writing

Book review 13 and my first read of February 2025 is Open Season by Jonathan Kellerman and a thoroughly enjoyable read it was. I've dipped in and out of this series for years now and rarely (if ever) been disappointed. 4 * from me

What have done today to make yourself proud? #HeatherSmall supporting #wetwetwet Bradford Theatres #stgeorgeshall my heart is pounding. My mood is lifted and I'm feeling better #mentalhealth #musictherapy music there #feelgood

Book Review 12 and my last read of January Hijab Butch Blues a memoir by Lamya H I absolutely adored this memoir and think it will be so affirming for queer people from non affirming families and especially for Muslim LGBTQI+ folk. Absolutely loved it 5*

Last night we went to see Bhaji on the Beach part of #Bradford2025 it was fantastic. Shaheen Khan's intro was full of sisterhood & hope. Of course I was delighted to chat with her afterwards(& snag a photo). She is the narrator of my Bradford set Nikki Parekh books.

Off to Picurevile to see Bhaji on the Beach as part of #bradfordcityofculture2025 . Tribute to Northern powerhouse women. Can you believe it was first shown in 1993?
