The third and final part of my short story, 'The Other Side of Time', is up now. If you read it (any of it), I'd love to know what you think! thrutopia.substack.com/p/the-other-...

Scary reading for scary times. I highly recommend the podcast 'Octavia's Parables' if you need a bit of comforting company while you read. If you dig back through the episodes, they started with Parable of the Sower, I believe in the run-up to the 2020 US election.

Morning, Womble! Today I'm being dazzled by Nicola Griffith's amazing Menewood, which might be even better than Hild, IMO.

Looks like he's working on his grumpy old man look, well ahead of time. 💚

Thanks for the tip - I love those weird and wonderful creatures! Just wondering... is the deepsea story related to the one in No More Fairytales a couple of years back? I really enjoyed that one.

TLDR: Life's too short, if you want to unfriend someone (including me!), go for it.

Cheers! Yes, so far it's definitely an advertisement for keeping active for as long as we possibly can. ☺️

Rest up, Stu. Hope you feel better tomorrow, or at least after the weekend.

Thanks for this. As a freelance editor, I'm going to look into whether I can offer to work for clients via LibreOffice as an alternative to Word. (Not taking Word out of the equation just yet, but other options are definitely good to have!)

Marnie has fallen for Aminta while spying undercover to undermine Aminta's solarpunkish, ecosocialist community. When her bosses at home demand she murder a community organiser, will she choose the life she's always known... or this new, hopeful alternative (and love!)? tinyurl.com/thrutopia

Totally! Kids get what they're ready for - and some kids may need the darker stuff that others totally don't notice. (Not quite the same, but even at 18, I read the Handmaid's Tale and just thought it was a cool story. Reread it in my 40s and found it terrifying!)

Oh, I missed (on insta) that you got to see Lauren Beukes - I think she's great! (Currently have the second MW Craven book out of the library.)

I think the first time I encountered the name it was in Antonia Forest's Marlow books - Rowan was the cool big sister who came to the rescue a few times. Now I've just realised that I've written a whole novel (first draft, anyway) with a male protagonist called Rowan! Gender neutral names ftw.

It's all about putting the stuff out there and knowing your audience. No one misses out on the big-hitters, but there's a lot more choice and "diversity" is built in with indies cos they're not afraid to publish different voices. To me there's no such thing as "diverse" stock - if you've got the
