Actually, this is great. Make some noise, call attention, don’t let anyone think it’s gonna slide without a fight.

my kingdom for an elected official who will stand up and defend the fact that the government employs people to test wastewater and send old people money and keep an eye on the bears in the park and make sue the people that scammed you

We’re in the middle of the HCD social housing study that was won with SB 555 - delivery to the legislature next year. This year trying to get some revenue or carve outs for SH in existing programs. And ULA getting underway!

“if everyone would shut up about their own struggles and pretend that the blue collar white man is the universal subject, we could win” always reliably leads to an alliance with outright bigots and charlatans.

AHJ & @prrac.bsky.social have created the "Moving LIHTC Towards Social Housing: A Toolkit" as a guide for advocates & state officials to use relatively stable federal dollars to build & rehab deeply affordable housing.

It’s extraordinary because it’s *worse* than the other strongmen who’ve done authoritarian takeovers around the world.

Can you say which state you’re in? I want to bug our district about coming out publicly but wondering if the state DOE may be telling them to let them handle it. CA DOE put out a statement that was strong on content ed, but silent on the trans parts

Something I’ve learned in many years of activism and organizing is to always celebrate wins of any size. Without this, you won’t be able to continue to struggle for the long-term. When we organize, we lose a lot but sometimes we win. Sometimes we win.

Along with a lot of the other comments, let’s not skip over the fact that her premise is ‘we spend too much’ while giving an example of a program that was *immediately oversubscribed* That’s not saying gov’t spends too much! It’s that the need is higher!

So where is this housing shortage? Are there not enough units at the top end? This may shock you but there are.
There are not enough units for people struggling. Spending our time effort and resources to create more units at the top end is nonsensical. Cut. It. Out.

As expected, everyone just going along with renewing OZones. They're a massive tax giveaway that pretended to be about struggling communities. They drove gentrification, had zero accountability.

C'mon man. Saying HUD spending is at a 'record high' is just deeply misleading. It's never recovered from the massive cuts of Reagan and beyond and absolutely is not keeping up with the scale of the crisis. grrr
