Trump's budget: We're cutting your health care and cancer cures to pay to deport your nurse assistant and cancer researcher.

No, but seriously, I don't want to hear your theories about Chuck Schumer's word choice until you can explain why the insincerely protestant president can fantasize about being an elected Catholic monarch on main without it tanking his reputation entirely

A late note on Judge Howell’s ruling striking down the Perkins Coie exec order. Key point is in 1st sentence: “No American President has ever before issued executive orders like the [this] one.” Trump apologists can change the subject or stay silent, but can’t deny she’s right. ... 1/10

We now have over 900 cases of measles in the USA RFK Jr. has told the Centers for Disease Control to look into “vitamins” as a treatment for measles. www.thedailybeast.com/rfk-jr-pushe...

We all must stand up every single day. "If the founding history of this country is any guide, those who stood up in court to vindicate constitutional rights and, by so doing, served to promote the rule of law, will be the models lauded when this period of American history is written." -Judge Howell

The ~700k people of DC: —Pay more fed tax per capita than people of any state; —Are more numerous than pop of WY or VT; —Have zero votes in US House or Senate; —Now being told by House GOP that we can't spend *OUR OWN* tax money, which we've already paid Cut the BS Thanks @vanhollen.senate.gov

The Constitution forbids bribery *3 separate times*. So important to the Founders they included two emoluments clauses, and made it the only named impeachable offense besides treason. The Constitution is clear on banning bribery. It's just that Congress and the courts decided to pretend otherwise.

In the old days, people claiming to be "pope" were sent to the loony bin.

Never give up. Never surrender.

Shortage of air traffic controllers goes back to Reagan breaking the air traffic controllers union.

Now that Trump has openly admitted he could bring back Abrego Garcia whenever he wants, his lawyer tells me he will use discovery to determine which officials are advising Trump to defy the Supreme Court. New piece from me with lots of fresh reporting on this case: newrepublic.com/article/1948...

I blame many people for this effing disaster, but Roberts high on the list.

When I voted for Trump, I had no idea that he would do so many of the things that he said he would do.

So many people will die because of this.

The lesson of trump's first 100 days: If you don't fight like hell, you're not gonna have a country anymore.

I know, norms and all that, but the default Dem position should be: We think this is illegal but if the courts say you can do this then we are going to rip the guts out of the entire conservative movement. No more Heritage, FedSoc, etc. All of them lose their tax exempt status.

The families of at least 11 federal judges have faced threats of violence or harassment after they ruled against the new Trump administration. @nedmparker1.bsky.social @mikespector.bsky.social @bypetereisler.bsky.social @nateraymond.bsky.social www.reuters.com/investigatio...

In Reagan's 1980s, America had just 35 undocumented immigrants behind bars. Today, nearly 48,000 sit in squalid detention, many thrown there by a mask-wearing U.S. secret police that smashes homes, cars and violates human rights It's time to abolish ICE. My column www.inquirer.com/opinion/ice-...

This semester, in my 200-level world literatures course, I assigned only in-class writing (and group presentations). This was all thanks to LLMs/AI taking over student writing. And I felt a bit mean for it... But also, it was SO great to see students think so much & develop complex analyses.

Nazi Germany surrendered in May 1945. For Americans, the Second World War would rage for three more months, until VJ Day in August. But for Russians and those influenced by them, "Victory Day" falls in May. Trump follows the Russian practice, not the American.

New: As federal judges rule against the Trump administration in dozens of politically charged cases, the families of at least 11 of the jurists have been targeted with threats and harassment, a @reuters.com investigation has found. www.reuters.com/investigatio...

another illegal executive order

There's a bit in a documentary, I think the BBC's Nazis a warning from history, where they interview a Norwegian woman about what it was like under Nazi occupation, she says it was terrible, then they start reading out all the reports she sent in to the Nazis about a woman she didn't like.

Hegseth is horrible. Noem is noxious. Lutnick is loathly. Rubio is repugnant. But I contend that none of them personally has the power to kill millions of Americans faster than RFK Jr.

Are you watching @MSNBC? They have a live town hall with federal workers who were fired, discussing what they did for us in their former posts. It’s as informative as it is infuriating. I still can’t believe we’re not dragging Republicans from their offices in chains over this evil lunacy.

NY Times: Our tips for fighting authoritarianism: 1) Acknowledge the authoritarians are popular with some 2) Many of the intentions they claim are good 3) Many of the goals they claim we can get behind 4) Some of the people they're killing are let's face it mad annoying 5) oops out of space

The NYT isn't up for this moment because if you look at their history they've always missed the moment. As "the publication of record" it shouldn't exist. The American public deserves better.

the trump administration, obviously concerned with racial equality, thinks its illegal discrimination to spend federal dollars protecting a predominantly black community from raw sewage

this is legitimately evil

every journalist’s dream is to help a white nationalist influencer sell more subscriptions. it is a noble profession.

i will say again that given the trajectory of the white house so far, strident opposition a la 2017 would have absolutely been the most prudent and effective decision and the absence of that opposition in the first two months made things demonstrably worse.

We're in the FO portion of the Trump administration's plan to FA with the federal judiciary

Here it is. A timetable of 100 days of corruption. Breathtaking. Heartbreaking. We cannot let this stand.

I’m not sure how to do a ranking but voting to confirm rfk jr at hhs is maybe one of the most self destructive things republicans have done in the second trump admin, and there’s a long list

This sort of unambiguous, unapologetic pro-immigration message is so much more effective than unconvincing hemming and hawing about how actually Democrats would do a better and more effective job of being anti-immigration.

JUST IN: The full bench of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals votes 9-6 to maintain a block on DOGE's access to sensitive social security records. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Get him to say it in a court of law, then lock him up.
