Congrats to @llobrienlab.bsky.social on winning an Innovative Science Accelerator Award from @isackuh.bsky.social! She pioneered whole tissue 3D imaging of #kidney nerves. Now she will map changes in these nerves from acute injury to chronic disease for the first time! med.unc.edu/cellbiophysi...

🔬🎤 As pre-announced a few days ago... please let us proudly present to you: 𝑴𝒊𝒄𝒓𝒐𝕊𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒕 - your ticket to imaging more, imaging more gentle, and/or imaging more efficient. 🔬 doi.org/10.1101/2025... Like ❤️, repost 🔂, and most importantly... please send feedback ✉️ our way! 🙏

Triangle area colleagues, if you may be able to help see 👇

🎉 Happy Valentine's Day, we love you science! ❤️ #FluorescenceFriday #sciart #neuroart

Brainbow marks cells in red Others in blue Tracked over time Reveals lineage true #ScienceValentines

My annual Valentine’s post of this image that happens to land on #FluorescenceFriday this year! An axon approaching a kidney glomerulus doing its best to look like a rose.

Weekend project to help subdue the internal screaming 😱 🦈

#FridayFeelings

For #FluorescenceFriday, large lipid droplets (orange) and alpha-spectrin (blue) are shown in adipocytes 🔬 #Microscopy #CellBiology

An ancient unpublished picture from my PhD #FluorescenceFriday! Drosophila sperm pump depth-coded with muscles (phalloidin=cyan/green) + Dapi (yellow/red). Not confocal but an old Zeiss Apotome - which is still an awesome scope! #sciart #microscopy #bioart #sciart #microscopyart #cellbio #devbio

Congratulations to my PhD student Ike Emerson for showing sex differences in the heart are regulated through X-linked miRNAs and a big thank you to Bill Marzluff! www.ahajournals.org/doi/full/10....

My recent office desk addition is feeling ever more relevant these days. And getting more button pushes. Sound on for the crackling flame and voice effects.

A huge effort and amazing advance by this team! Check out the preprint link below. We were amazed with what we could get out of our samples (those are our kidneys below!). Major thanks to @kevin-dean.bsky.social for including us.

Nerves and glomeruli in the developing kidney for this #FluorescenceFriday

😭 Oh do I feel this! The A1 of my renewal is set for review in early February (will it be canceled?) and my tenure to be officially decided the month after. Although I will admit the COVID extension helped us get papers out, this has definitely been a journey.

Happy #FluorescenceFriday to those who celebrate! Here's a beautiful quail neural tube and somites labelled for microtubules 🟠 and actin 🔵. Imaged by Power-RA Siew Zhuan Tan. #devbio 🧪🔬👩‍🔬

This morning’s sunrise ahead of the winter storm was 😍

Gorgeous imaging below! Look at those vessels!

not #microscopeMonday🔬 not #fluorescenceFriday: #TestingTuesday 🤦‍♂️. Assessing 3D algos today. @wythelab.bsky.social & @llobrienlab.bsky.social turned me on to evans blue as an epithelial marker. BTW, algo failed (hint: rt hemisphere aysmmetry). Lightsheet microscope from @the.3i.social

105 cool microscopists in this starter pack, but I know there are more out there! I want to find more 45 to complete the list, can you help me? 🤓🔬 go.bsky.app/Aaf8sKT

Adult #Drosophila adipocytes by @isaiahwill.bsky.social for #FluorescenceFriday (cell membranes and nuclear lamina labeled (red) with alpha spectrin and Lamin C antibodies, respectively, from @dshb-antibodies.bsky.social; lipid droplets labeled with BODIPY (green))

Our first #fluorescenceFriday (or is it #fluorescentFriday ?) image - a transverse section through a sciatic nerve, labeled to reveal the axons (NF, green) and Schwann cells (S100, red). Image from Soizic Riche.

My first post on BS is for #FluorescenceFriday 🔬 Here is a 3D reconstruction of a sea urchin (Paracentrotus lividus) blastopore gastrula expressing two Golgi reporters (medial-Golgi green; trans-Golgi magenta). 0-90 degree rotation

Our lab’s #FluorescenceFriday contribution for this week: Image of a neonatal mouse retina with nascent neurons migrating towards the ganglion cell layer in yellow.

Jumping to this platform I discovered there is a #3DThursday preceding #FluorescenceFriday! Here’s the arterial tree of a kidney labeled by Evans blue.

Just swam over to Bluesky and decided to dip my fin in the water. I am a Postdoc in the Weinstein lab and currently on the faculty job market. I developed an injury system to study cutaneous wound healing in adult zebrafish. Check out my movie showing neutrophil recruitment after injury.

My BlueSky 'inaugural' post is our classic rotating embryo video from our recently published Zebrahub paper www.cell.com/cell/fulltex... “Zebrahub | Supp. Video 3: Light-sheet time-lapse of Tg(h2afva:h2afva-mcherry ; mezzo:eGFP) embryo starting at 50% epiboly.” on #Vimeo vimeo.com/803719225

For all those interested in vascularizing organoids, check out this great paper from Maggiore et al on their inducible vascularized kidney organoid model and my accompanying commentary! www.kidney-international.org/article/S008... www.kidney-international.org/article/S008...
