Do it! You can easily get hold of some 3d printed bins and the bin bags are a doddle to make with the tip of a latex glove stuffed with sawdust or scenic foam

I’ve never tried casting- the speed thing is a good idea, but you have to watch out for clogging areas up, which I’m sure you’re aware 🙂
