Aurora Borealis Daphne Odjig ~ Anishinaabe 1984

I’m not even really a cat person (I like them, just not in my house) but Ramadan Cats is my favourite thing every year ❤️

I can never keep this straight - do the tariffs move forward or back tonight?

The most optimistic thing that can be said about our current moment is that we are in for years of constant change. Sure, bad stuff is happening, and there's lots of reason for concern. But everything that seemed certain in the past is up for grabs today, and the future has not yet been written.

“The Trump administration understands that it does not have absolute power and that it must rely on creating a false illusion of power to create a chilling effect to get everyday people to respond to fear, comply in advance, and censor their own free speech.” www.publicnotice.co/p/aoc-homan-...

I’m absolutely the worst version of my self at this point every winter, but I’m feeling ESPECIALLY terrible this winter. I will be drowning my sorrows in bread until Spring. Carb therapy.

no one told me that dystopia would be so stupid

The Walrus (@thewalrus.ca) is launching six regional bureaus to tell Canada’s local stories

Going to tell Trump this is Canada’s Fentanyl Czar.

I miss my dog. Losing a pet is so weird and hard.

I think the response of self-satisfied nationalism in the face of all this is a misguided reaction, and it's not going to be the thing that saves us. I see a lot of "Canada First" rhetoric that should be alarming given our own history. I've seen calls to shut off access to power, to cut off ppl.

What if, I don't know, there was good news. Have we thought about doing that.

MFer I grew up before NAFTA. I didn't have an avocado until I was 15 years old. I ate lunch in a Zellers cafeteria. I thought Robin Hood was just a guy who made flour. I was made for this moment.

The Sun's Return Kenojuak Ashevak ~ Inuk 1993

do we get to open one present on tariff eve or do we do them all tomorrow

There's always a Mary Oliver poem.

Just saw a tiktok about how reading is the new luxury status symbol and I’m like yessss, finally my time has come!

Insomnia people: what makes it better? I’m a week into staring at the ceiling for hours and hours every night and I’m getting very cranky. Need some new suggestions!

📚📚📚 A book post! This year I read 49 books for fun across quite a few genres- thanks mostly to a very unhinged library hold list and two book clubs. While I didn’t quite reach my goal of 52 books in 2024, what can you do? Reading is reading. What should I read in 2025?

Cozy croissants at home ❄️

I’m now at the *critical* Boney M stage of my last hour of my last day of work before the holidays. This is where I desperately try to wrap a bunch of tasks up nicely while also singing to my dog 🙃
