Maybe Trump is returning to our imperialist roots, which involved vastly more uninhabited pacific islands than you would ever guess.

This is actually insane

Producing this tariffs chart with no alphabetization or numerization is an act of profound madness and indicative of a rot in the soul.

From the start, the attempted political takeover of American public schools has been a project of the right wing. And, from the start, they have justified it by saying the left did it first. But it was never true. It was all, always, a conspiracy theory. coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/04/davi...

The belief that public schools are liberal indoctrination centers has survived long enough that it has taken on a status similar to fact. But it’s not a fact, and it never has been, writes columnist @loganmdavis.bsky.social ⬇️ coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/04/davi...

"If America hasn't broken your heart, you haven't loved her enough." Corey Booker, just now.

How conservatives responded to the School Lunch Act of 1946, which not only made the concept of school lunches widespread in the US, but was also a vital mechanism for propping up farmers. Some things never change.

Are evangelicals a threat to American democracy? This webinar I did w/ @faithfulpolitics.bsky.social is the most comprehensive presentation I've done (to date) on the ties b/w Trump, the New Apostolic Reformation, & the radicalization of evangelical politics today. www.youtube.com/live/7nWA5gj...

2025 is an election year for Colorado's 178 school districts, and an opportunity for the network of right-wing activists seeking to influence them. If there's something going on in your district, @loganmdavis.bsky.social would love to hear from you. coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/03/davi...

Something elided in most tellings of history is that Adolf Hitler was also demonstrably stupid.

last week the minster of Christ the King Reformed Church in MI called for violence against democrat voters "If the majority cannot move the entrenched minority by their ballots as cast in 2024 the only option left to them in order to move the entrenched minority is bullets."

The funnier part is that *all* of the presidential portraits in the Colorado Capitol are pretty bad. The George W. Bush one looks like it was painted by George W. Bush.

Why are Yglesias and Gallego doing an event with Marc Andreessen, and what should we make of that?

Between the Shor-style data religionists, the abundance guys, and the pathological moderation of the Yglesias set, it’s hard to not see the Democratic Party as being consciously defanged by some of the same buckets of Silicon Valley money fueling the administration — and that’s concerning.

a weird thing right now is watching the "liberal" intelligentsia hurtle headlong towards gender essentialism and race science while, like, a million Jan-from-Napervilles are being radicalized in the exact opposite direction

incredibly eye-opening to see which of my ostensible peers have decided to treat hanania like he's anything other than the worst gutter bigot

"I would ask you to imagine how long it might be until this happens to a U.S. citizen, but we can’t even know whether it already has. How long, then, until it happens to you?" @loganmdavis.bsky.social coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/03/davi...

238 men were stripped of their rights to due process and deported without a hearing to Salvadoran strongman Nayib Bukele’s prisons. They may never be heard from again. We do not know if any of them were American citizens. coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/03/davi...

It took 54 days of his second term for Donald Trump to trigger a constitutional crisis. Now he's made it clear that no one - documented, undocumented, native-born, or naturalized - can count on the constitution to protect them, from @loganmdavis.bsky.social coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/03/davi...

This is Orban-level stuff. USIP is a private NGO not housed in a federal building, but DOGE goons broke in anyway while the police looked on. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Shor is emblematic of a kind of quasi-religious faith that Democrats can measure, poll, and triangulate our way to popularity. We have followed that idea like the Pied Piper to 20% approval. This faith is both the party’s dying gasp and a large part of what killed it.

The media loves to speculate about the possibility of a constitutional crisis - then one arrives in black and white and they hem and haw instead of calling it. Make no mistake, the crisis is here.

This is basically phrenology.

This reporting from @loganmdavis.bsky.social— about a community that has been taken over by conservative Christians intent on destroying the public school district—is WILD. Worth your time to read and to read carefully. coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/03/davi...

The Republic was killed by decades of drift, by self-interested career politicians who saw personal advantage in each new dysfunction. The system went into terminal spin, capable of creating powers which it no longer had the power to restrain. coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/03/davi...

Guess I need to say this is loudly and as bluntly as possible but: effective altruism has always just been fascist social Darwinism in a techno fascist newspeak paint job.

Points of no return rarely feel like it when they finally arrive. Where's your line? New from columnist @loganmdavis.bsky.social: "Looking for the Rubicon" ⬇️ coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/03/davi...

Seeing a lot of takes like “what Trump is doing is so unpopular, we’re going to wreck them in the midterms.” Maybe! Narendra Modi made all the money in India worthless and got reelected twice.

New research from @prripoll.bsky.social: Christian nationalist beliefs strongly correlated w/ hostility towards migrants, adherence to sexist/patriarchal views, and an increased likelihood of belief in conspiracy theories and support for political violence. coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/02/davi...
