Many headlines describe this fatal collision as a "bus crash" or a "crash between a bus and a car". The bus, at the bus stop, was impacted on its left side, the pedestrian killed on the pavement. This was a car being crashed at speed into a bus, at a bus stop, on the opposite side of the road.

Labour has just launched the biggest ever review of Englandā€™s water industry since it was privatised - but has banned the ā€œIndependent Commissionā€ from even looking at public ownership. Sign our petition to tell Labour they must support nationalisation.ā¬‡ļø

šŸšØ BREAKING šŸšØ šŸ’ø 4.5 million UK jobs were paid below real Living Wage in 2024, 800,000 more than in 2023. šŸ’š The Green Party would introduce a Ā£15 minimum wage for all to lift people out of poverty and reinvigorate local economies.

Pushing through these damaging plans shows such poor economic judgement. Over 100,000 extra flights a year wonā€™t deliver for our communities. Labour should listen to the public who think airport expansion is the wrong priority. #Gatwick

Climate change is already here, and we need to adapt ā€” stronger infrastructure, better flood defences, and real resilience. But we also have a choice: keep heading toward catastrophe or change course now. There is still everything to play for.

Today's Starmer/Trump meeting will set the tone for UK-US relations for years to come & is a vital opportunity for our PM to set clear red lines. Crucially - Starmer must make clear to Trump that the UK will stand firmly against his appalling plan to remove Palestinians from Gaza.

How embarrassing for Starmer and anyone associated with the Labour Party. Time was, global solidarity meant something to Labour. Not any more... www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Generative artifical so-called intelligence: plagiarism on a giant scale www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

In 10 years we have gone from David Cameron protecting the aid budget to the Conservatives slashing it & now Keir Starmer cutting it further In an insecure world, this governmentā€™s decision is callous & reckless We can and must fund aid & defence- both are critical for security

The government could save households Ā£100s a year on their energy bills by making these three changes ā¬‡ļø Why wait?

Investing in defence matters, but not through cutting aid to the most vulnerable or squeezing already overstretched budgets. There is another option: asking the wealthiest to contribute more. I challenged the Prime Minister on why thatā€™s notĀ onĀ theĀ table.

Shameful. Labour talk about difficult decisions and tough choices. The choice this time? To cut the foreign aid budget. Why are the 'difficult choices' never taxing the wealth of the super rich?

Every defence and security system we have is entangled with the US. Even GPS is wholly owned by the US Space Force. Our intelligence is automatically shared with the US, whose bases here are allowed to spy on our own citizens. So if the US is now an enemy power, the enemy is already here.

This bike bus through the Silvertown Tunnel is very hard to pin down. Just over a month to go and thereā€™s no real info about the design and not much sign of the bus stops on the ground either.

The net zero economy is growing three times faster than the overall UK economy while providing well-paid secure jobs. Now is the time to go further and faster towards net zero to bring down bills and emissions and provide good jobs. Net zero is the future.

Heading home from a vigil organised by @londoncycling.bsky.social for a young man in his twenties killed while cycling in Stratford, east London. Iā€™m struck by the terrible loss and trauma for families and friends affected and how stupid it is that Vision Zero is not yet even vaguely a reality.

Huge opportunities in the net zero economy if we invest properly - this is where govt should be focusing, not on climate wrecking airport expansion or oil drilling! www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Yeah. Whilst we're on the subject - how is this slum landlord still a Labour MP? www.bbc.com/news/article...

Calling out lies & misinformation. On 18th Jan people were arrested for being on the wrong bit of pavement & kettled whilst trying to leave Trafalgar Sq! Labour Government could have binned Public Order Act but they are sticking with it. āœŠļøSolidarity with Ben Jamal. youtu.be/Qe1gc_m_AwU?...

The super rich have more power than ever before. The old political parties have utterly failed. They've made things worse. We don't have time to mess around. I spoke to @novaramedia.com about why you need to join @greenparty.org.uk novaramedia.com/2025/02/21/t...

We are grateful to Caroline Russell AM for her support on the awful #Greenway diversion which is now nearing its sixth month. Itā€™s not acceptable that a private water company can sever Newhamā€™s only north/south cycling connection. Both Thames Water and Newham Council need to step up and do more.

āŒCancel the Thames Water bailout āœ…Nationalise Thames Water now šŸ–‹ļøSign the @londonygs.bsky.social petition here: actionnetwork.org/petitions/st...

Motivations become clear in the choices people make. Reeves is to her ā€˜fiscal rulesā€™ as Musk is to using his children as human shields. šŸ‘‡

A few of the things I've been working on this week.

Zach tells it like it is! Tory austerity was a disaster for Britain. Labour austerity will be equally bad. The Govt's inability to learn from history, or grasp how economics works, is quite shocking. They're locked in a doom loop of their own creation. What a sad end to a once great party...

ā€œGovt wants to temporarily renationalise, then reprivatisatise. Wrong policyā€ Right policyā¬‡ļø

A very clear response from London Fire Commissioner, Andy Rowe to a question at Fire Plenary last week from Emma Best AM about the impact of LTNs on fire brigade attendance times. "We genuinely couldn't find any evidence of LTNs doing anything to our overall attendance times".

I've just signed the @mumsforlungs.bsky.social letter asking for transparency about the impact on the air we breathe from defeat devices fitted to diesel cars. šŸ–‹ļø Signatures accepted up to 22nd February.

Norfolk and Suffolk are very exciting now - and for @greenparty.org.uk to continue to work hard in our communities. And great to feel the buzz with Norwich & Ipswich Greens - ready to win also. Next trip heading up north! šŸš„

Huge thanks to @frankieroberto.com from Islington Clean Air Parents and the many community members and organisations who have engaged with the council and Highbury councillors to get this project from a thought to reality over at least two years of back and forth.

At Fire Plenary last week I raised fire risk from e-bike conversion kits with the London Fire Commissioner and asked if he's involved in the twice yearly meetings held by TfL with the gig economy delivery companies. Turns out he is already, in active dialogue with them. youtube.com/shorts/WFmv8...

If we introduce tax breaks for millionaires like Nigel Farage and Richard Tice, we will not have the money to restore our NHS.

We desperately need to see the end of the bloodshed in Ukraine, but the Ukrainian people need to be front and centre of any settlement. We cannot have Putin or Trump dictating the future of Ukraine.

šŸšØ Labour/Tories. šŸ”„ Dancing to Farages tune - they are a danger to us all. šŸ’š We need to tackle inequality. šŸš® We can't go on like this.

People shouldnā€™t have to pay for heat that just leaks out of their homes. The Government must act now: mass insulation, stricter building standards, and real support for households struggling with energy bills. No more wasted timeā€”orĀ wastedĀ heat.

"We need to be able to ask the very richest in society to pay a little bit more..." @adrianramsay.bsky.social on the need to tax the super-rich fairly to help fund our overstretched public services.

I am pleased to see Rupert Lowe has installed solar panels on his farm. Itā€™s a shame Reform Party does not want ordinary people to benefit from cheap, clean, renewable energy. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Labour and the Tories have made it very clear which side they are on.

BP and others are scrapping renewable energy projects and increasing oil & gas production because they made a few less BILLION in profits last year. All while temperature records keep being smashed and extreme weather becomes more frequent. Now is not the time for more oil & gas.

There are serious questions about forced labour in Shein's supply chains - and ongoing legal action against them - TfL should not be making money from companies with such opaque business practices promoting fast fashion. šŸ‘‹ @noahvickers14 for picking up my letter to the Mayor.

Labour's disgusting deportation stunt this week wasn't just morally bankrupt, it was politically stupid. Politicians need to find the backbone to be honest about the real source of our problems: the wealthy elite draining money from our communities metro.co.uk/2025/02/11/l...

Public toilets are critical for public health and accessibility. šŸš½ Great to see the British Toilet Association launch a campaign for public toilets to be a legal requirement. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Labour are making inequality in the UK even worse. And rather than reverse - they're now blaming vulnerable people instead. It's just another version of Reform. Join the alternative: join.greenparty.org.uk

We say @greenparty.org.uk: #RefugeesWelcome #MigrantsWelcome. If you want an anti-Reform Party force, that is us. For the future of the UK, we need to take on their narratives, NOT adopt them www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Driven grouse shooting is about killing animals for fun, which personally I have never understood and it disgusts me. Plus the damage to ecosystems from the raising of grouse. @WildJustice_org is right to oppose it. Signed.

Lime switched their tyres to a cheaper brand and people are crashing and getting injured. šŸ¤” I witnessed a woman come off a Lime bike last week going round a mini roundabout in damp weather, (no other vehicle). Helped pick her up. She was badly winded and couldnā€™t work out how it had happened.

Really interesting chat with @garyseconomics.bsky.social and Jimmy the Giant. Theres another huge part of this though. A huge part of the fight back against inequality: šŸ“¢ Join the Green Party. Join.greenparty.org.uk youtu.be/MCqfr91vFws?...

ā€œIn power, Labourā€™s agenda has been stripped back to an empty obsession with growth & an imitation of Reform UK. The public isnā€™t falling for itā€. Spot on @johnharris1969.bsky.social People deserve better than a government with no conviction, no hope & no vision
