THE EARTH IS MELTING (and Other Inconveniences) A few years ago, I found myself photographing the Extinction Rebellion protests, read my thoughts, view full thread below👇 #Climate #Environment #Activism #Protests #XR #Sustainability #Earth #Future #Justice #Nature #Change #Hope #Awareness #Action

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... Updating the law so all road killers face same potential max tariff is fairly sensible but literally zero mention of the pisstakingly poor prosecution (let alone conviction or sentencing rates) for existing CAR KILLERS. Plus empty quote from Cycling UK.. pointless orgn

"I am a fair bit concerned of the consequences of the Supreme Court ruling" Green Party Co-Leader @carladenyer.bsky.social says she's anxiously waiting for the government to clarify what the Supreme Court ruling on gender identity means #Peston

Musk must be exhausted running from the consequences!

Marharyta Polovinko, Ukrainian Defender and artist, died on the frontlines. In 2024, Marharyta evacuated wounded Defenders as a volunteer. Later, she joined the 3rd Assault Brigade. Marharyta shared about her drawings after Russian atrocities in Kyiv region became known:

Kaja Kallas: ◾️"It takes two to want peace, but it only takes one to want war." It is clear that "Russia wants war." ◾️What is clear is that China is the key enabler or Russia's war. Without Chinese support, Russia wouldn't be able to wage the war in the amount that they are waging"

German manufacturer Rheinmetall is massively expanding its ammunition production. The production capacity of 155mm artillery shells will increase fifteenfold by 2027 compared to the level at the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022.

Great (if excruciating) #saintsFC postmortem on bbc south coast: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Just the most startling collapse in basic intellectual standards. He literally campaigned on tariffs you mad obsolete bastard. You didn't need to deploy any sophisticated political analysis, just listen with your human ears.

Three letters in the Guardian on the joys of walking: www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle... A lovely reminder in this one of the power of children to motivate change and how liberating it can be to go car free: “To my amazement, I was happy walking everywhere and kept putting off buying another car”

Great news for Bedford and the UK ... just really hope the council do their job and use their powers to FORCE Universal link up the park, train station, and walking/cycling visitors properly - if not expect traffic chaos and yet *more* car dependency baked-into the delivery 🙄

arstechnica.com/cars/2025/04... Cargobikes / bakfiets just keep getting more and more mainstream - now an @arstechnica.com review

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... Beth and co deextinctifying stuff

@carolinerussell.bsky.social exposes the new Silvertown tunnel con: "Expecting people to get off their bikes, wait up to 12 minutes and then lug their bikes on to a bus is ridiculous, especially when the entire area around the tunnel is dangerous for cycling” www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Lost in (Re) translation.. enjoyed this internationalisation bughunt from @pewresearch.org www.pewresearch.org/decoded/2025...

I like to think that being brought up in poverty and hardship has helped me foster strong empathy for others. My mum was raised in extreme depravation and still has empathy for those with closed minds. My mum is also extremely strong. My dad taught me to engage in politics/fight injustice.

There's no question that today's tariff announcement will give the United States the highest tariff rates of any industrialized country. And it's not even close.

Prediction markets had already priced in their best guess of the Trump tariffs. Today's announcement was so much worse than expected that it caused the chance of a 2025 recession to rise from 42% to 52%.

Just seen a YouTube ad for agresso trumpeting its agility. Don't think ive ever been so confused

Important update on e-bikes on TFL services: The safety of Londoners is my top priority, and while most e-bikes are safe, there have been a small number of incidents where non-foldable e-bikes have caught fire on the transport system, which has caused me great concern. (1/3)

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... Call me totally fucking bonkers, but if IM is so crucial to the top level of government, you'd think a defence establishment with a budget of billions would have their own greenfield (secure) app by now? Doesn't have to scale, few thousand users max, presumably..

One of the fun-est things I amuse myself with before bed is trying to work out if Elon is Goring or Rohm.

So, a day after a large military co-operation meeting at Northwood (remember, to secure a PEACE, not wage war on Russia..) a traditional 'smoking accident' cancels 1,000 flights from LHR...? I am distinctly un-shocked. Time to deport some Russian gentlemen, or apply the 1351 Act, as requred.

“My priority is improving the bus, rail and active travel offer. Do that first, then you're left with what you need to do with the road." - @davidskaith.bsky.social Spot on. Increasing road capacity is not the answer to reducing congestion. Focus on making alternatives to driving work for more ppl.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

As outlined in my last episode: “US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated on March 16 that Ukraine will receive unspecified security guarantees in exchange for unspecified territorial concessions.”

Nick Ferrari on @lbc.co.uk just called Tim Montgomerie from Reform "Timmo". Timmo then called Tommy Robinson a "rough diamond". Just two guys shooting the breeze. Will be the same when Farage swings by the show tomorrow... Rancid.
