Harvey Milk served his country honorably — first in uniform, then in public office. Taking his name off this Navy ship sends a clear message, and it’s one of disrespect and cruelty.

My youngest created a word that I think works well here. Vominate 🤮

Are we great yet?

RFK Jr. is absolutely poisonous. He has now caused Dr. Lakshmi Panagiotakopoulos, the person in charge of COVID19 vaccinations at the CDC, to resign. She did so because RFK Jr. demanded that the experts in charge of vaccine guidance listen to him and not to the scientific evidence.

I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE. Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it. Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

San Diego neighborhood makes ICE agents retreat

No money for people with disabilities. No money for the elderly. No money for children in poverty. Always money for war.

When warnings of Insectageddon were issued a few years ago, there was widespread denial. Less so now. It's devastating. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Life of a Joni Ernst comms director 🤣

This is great to see! A long time coming and very much needed by minimum wage workers. But now do social welfare payments 💁💁💁 #RaiseTheRate #AusPol

10 years after gas exports from Queensland began, all of the gas companies involved, bar one, have not paid a cent in company tax. This is despite them selling $125 billion worth of LNG out of Queensland, and reporting $330 billion in total Australian revenue. #auspol

The Restaurant & Café Assn argued the minimum wage should rise by less than the annual inflation rate (ie: a real wage cut) www.theguardian.com/australia-ne... If cafe etc owners can't survive except by stealing from workers, they move to the USA where staff subsist in poverty on tips. #auspol

Woodside has created an unhealthy climate of thought whereby public officials have come to think that the interests of Woodside are the interests of the people of WA and Australia. @waterfordjack #auspol #woodside

Please listen to the UN General Secretary.

This is abuser-level gaslighting from the Albanese government

Sarah Hanson-Young says it’s not up to Donald Trump to be “dictating to others” including to Australia on Defence spending. “I know he thinks he’s the King of America, but he’s certainly not the King of the world.”🔥💥 #auspol youtu.be/0Zc0xrSxbZw?...

You'd have to have lived under a rock for a decade to think that tourism in Queensland in 20 years won't be profoundly changed by climate change. Already, mass bleaching occurred in 6 of the past 10 summers. By 2045, the Great Barrier Reef will be unrecognizable. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06...

Goodnight everybody

House prices are up, again. The housing crisis is putting home ownership further out of reach for millions of renters and first home buyers. To fix this, Labor must end the $176b in tax handouts to wealthy property investors. Housing should be for people, not profit.

"Confected outrage at the very wealthy paying slightly more tax is misguided and misdirected." Great piece on proposed super changes by @gemkillen.bsky.social womensagenda.com.au/latest/dont-...

Thanks Stephen Mayne. When covering this Abbott meets Vance yarn on p2 today, the Herald Sun should have a disclosure at the bottom: “Tony Abbott is an independent non-executive director of Fox Corp, sister company of News Corp, publisher of the Herald Sun”.

The Fair Work Commission will announce its decision on this year's Annual Wage Review tomorrow. Unions are calling for a 4.5 % rise, some business groups are calling on rises between 2 and 2.5%. Australian Unions are clear: No one should be left without a livable wage.

Doing nothing about climate change costs far more than doing something. Not just in terms of cold hard cash either, but that too. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

When @albomp.bsky.social pulled consideration of new environmental legislation last term, and delayed decision on Woodside’s North West Shelf gas plant extension…he did it because he didn’t have the guts to front voters with his seedy decision. Such is the state of politics today #auspol

Whoaaaa ... this solar storm is so strong, they are seeing it up in Coonabarabran (latitude: 31 degrees south!). That's 200 km NW of Sydney! Coonabarabran sits on the edge of one of the only dark sky parks in the southern hemisphere, out in the Warrumbungles. We have big telescopes near there!

This man, who has human rights lawyer in his Twitter biog!, is hoping that Israel attacks the flotilla & hurts (kills?) my Zeteo colleague, & legendary activist, Greta Thunberg. To call this tweet disgusting & violent would be an understatement. But they keep telling on themselves:

The foolish rationale for spending $368B on #AUKUS subs is to support the US in war with China over Taiwan. The US says this could happen in 2027. We won’t get US subs until at least 2032; if ever. AUKUS is strategic folly at every level. But don’t expect anyone to admit that. #auspol

$20 million capital gain, tax free. In Australia we’ve been trained to think it is ‘normal’ not to tax capital gains of unlimited size on ‘family homes’ It’s not normal It’s bad economics (driving excessive investment in huge houses) Its bad for inequlity And its not ‘normal’ in most countries

First day of winter and we're still having fires starting requiring multiple trucks sent out. Climate change coming at us fast.

Trump’s strange mix of anti-China aggression and personal weakness, may be pushing Xi towards a fateful decision on Taiwan. His crude attempts to damage a struggling Chinese economy are akin to holding a gun to Xi’s head. Does Trump realise how deeply provocative this is?

Yuendumu death in custody, Australia must confront some harsh truths On Tuesday, a 24-year-old Warlpiri man with a disability, also hailing from Yuendumu, died after being restrained by police officers in aisle four of one of Alice Springs' main supermarkets. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06...

“We are watching a systematic starvation of 2 million people. A live-streamed genocide & the world's silence is deadly. That is why we have to keep trying everything we can, even if the odds are against us.” Zeteo contributor Greta Thunberg shares moments from the Madleen.

"more than 16,500 children have been killed in the 19 months since the *war* began … a figure almost 24 times higher than the number of children killed in Ukraine, where the population is 20 times bigger, since Russia’s invasion." www.theguardian.com/world/ng-int...

The ongoing loss of life, starvation and human suffering in Gaza is unconscionable and I do not accept that Australia's influence is limited. I have written to the Prime Minister asking him to use the authority of his office in a stand against the actions of Israel. #gaza #auspol bit.ly/4mz81ut

Labor and the Coalition are on a unity ticket to screw the planet and the Australian public all at once - North West Shelf gas extension will deliver ‘almost nothing’ to Australia’s public purse www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Really looking forward to these News Corp grifters trying to come up with 3 more years of confected culture war outrage for an audience literally dying off & not being replaced because the rest of the world has moved on from this childish crap. Games up guys, you lost.😂🤡

This #SocialistSunday I suggest that the issue isn’t just capitalism or socialism - it’s industrialism, centralisation, and disconnection from life systems. Any system, capitalist or socialist, can go off the rails if it ignores: Ecological integrity Human dignity Holistic, long-term thinking ✊🏻💚

If Labor is giving #Woodside a free pass to burn the planet until *at least* 2070, the Labor Party doesn’t see gas as a “transition” energy. #Insiders #auspol #ClimateCrisis #ClimateChange #betrayal
