saddened to report that my Buying Too Many Books disease is progressing rapidly

Permission to go nuclear on a podcast

🧵 here lies a thread of some of the coolest revolutionary/political posters i've been finding, enjoy ♡

It says a lot about our imagining of the past that in the video game Oregon Trail, you can die of cholera or typhoid or dysentery but not of consumption, even though consumption was the most common cause of death in 19th century America, especially among westward travelers. In this essay I will

All I want is a cottage in the Scottish Highlands, a raging snowstorm, and Agatha Christie novel, a crackling fire, a kettle on the stove, and a basket of emotional support pastries.

This is your reminder to get a library card. They have so many services and basically all of them are free.

hi! my name is blue :) i'm a grad student, writer, film industry escapee, atlanta native, bookworm, crochet lover, and leftist. i write on substack about all kinds of things if that's your cup of tea ☕️ i have high hopes for this little app and love the community here so far! let's be mutuals <33

i'm a little late to the party and trying to find my people :) if you're interested in any of these, let's be mutuals! 🪩 film + book reviews 🪩 brain dumps 🪩 advice for hard things 🪩 media analysis 🪩 intersectional feminism 🪩 environmentalism 🪩 art + design 🪩 social justice issues 🪩 documentaries

We're only halfway through Native American Heritage Month, so there's still plenty of time for you to read one of our many titles by and about indigenous people, including @sgj.bsky.social, @morgantalty.bsky.social, Joy Harjo, and Ned Blackhawk. Not that you shouldn't be doing that every month.

Ngl it's sad people reduce the horror genre to being cheap or lacking in potential, there's a huge catalogue of myths and cyptids and even existential horror you can dive into, and some of my favorite games and movies ever made are horror. Not everything is cheap jumpscares and crappy gorefests.

Just got my copies :,) thank youuuu @haymarketbooks.bsky.social

Rereading “Let This Radicalize You” by @prisonculture.bsky.social and I’m hanging on to this paragraph right here…

I saw @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social posting some useful advice about organizing a couple days ago & this morning I was searching for something else in my photos & found this also-useful passage from his book, Elite Capture.

I have joined the party ..... hi everyone :)
